Seen today next to the bay in Ocean City, MD, I saw a half-dozen of these birds. I suspect they were juvenile Red-winged Blackbirds. Can you confirm or deny this ID, please? They were about the right size and tho it's hard to see, they had some streaking on their breast/belly.

A blue sky is criss-crossed with many dark twigs and small branches. One small bird is perched and seen from behind. It is very dark and is mainly a silhouette. In the center of the image is a similar bird, facing left. It has dark gray or black head, with a black bill and black eye. Because it's in shadow, the belly and breast of the bird is very dark, but may be slightly streaked. The rest of the bird is dark gray or black. Some gray-green lichen is splotched about the larger branches.

#Birb - as a wild guess I'd say a grouse or a ptarmigan, but I really have no idea. Whatever it is, it lives near #KenoshaPass #Colorado #WhatsThisBird #Bird

Looking at last Friday’s bird photos, and I’d love an external opinion. I managed to take a few photos of these elusive little ~sparrow-sized jobbers we kept seeing in the underbrush of a scrubwood margin on Sauvie Island. The only good match I’ve found for them is female or immature Lazuli Buntings, which would be a lifer for me. Anyone with more #bunting experience have an opinion?

EDITED: Lazuli Bunting Consensus!

(Sauvie Island, Columbia River, NW #Oregon, May 24)

Two small birds clinging to the green stalks of weeds or grasses. Their body plan is similar to a sparrow’s, but their beaks have more of a finch’s broadness at the base. Their legs seem to be gray, and all their plumage has a soft, pastel, 90s designer-color feel. The belly is white, which gives way to pale beige nearer the wing. The upper breast is an anemic orange. The left one is showing the underside of its tail: dingy shite coverts and a medium gray tail. The folded wings are also medium gray, with two white wingbars, fairly distinct. The right bird has stuck its head curiously out beyond its intrepidly grasped plant stem, while the left bird is more fully hidden. The head is a dusty taupe, with a slight white stripe through the upper part of the dark eye, and a medium-shade line continuing from the eye toward the back of the head. The beak is grey. Under the beak, two fairly distinct white jowl-stripes. Of such doctor’s-office drab markings are potential lifer identifications made!

I saw this new friend in the backyard, and was only able to get a few pictures through the window before e flew off. Not sure on the species, but it was very small, probably the size of a Wilson's Warbler. Anyone have any thoughts on the ID? Just west of Houston, TX #birds #whatsthisbird #birdid

With the madness happening at Reddit, is there a place people go for bird ID? I know I could use iNaturalist but I like the idea of a community. Can we start #whatsthisbird?
