ICYMI: šŸŗ How did light shape religious experience in ancient Mesopotamian temples?

We investigated this by reconstructing and analysing lighting conditions in four common types of sacred architecture from the ancient Near East.

Using standardised 3D models, we simulated how natural light entered temple spaces.

A little experimental style with the first and the last plans of the Sin temple, 3rd millenium Khafajeh.

#ane #ancientneareast #archeodon

Superposed plans of a 3rd millenium sud-mesopotamian temple from Khafajeh. The oldest one, in green, is put over the last, in purple-blue. The temple cella stood more or less at the same place, but the dimensions are much bigger in the recent building.
