Who doesn't love space? It captures our imaginations and makes us wonder if we are truly alone.
Join us for a fair of astronomical proportions at York University with the Allan I Carswell Observatory and our event partners. A single ticket will get you entry to booths, activities, telescopes, and the Astronomy in Action Planetarium.
This exciting event is running as a FIRST CLEAR DAY event as it will be outdoors and under the open air between June 24 - July 4. The event will happen only once on the first clear day, and all ticket holders will see a go or no-go update (depending on the weather) both on the event website and via their registration email by 9am each day.
We are excited to welcome you to walk through the solar system, investigate sundials, and interact with both science and games in this event. All areas are suitable for ages 5 and up, but younger children should be accompanied by an adult.
For tickets and information see: https://www.yorku.ca/science/observatory/astrofair/

Today I had the opportunity to visit the ESO 3.6m telescope at La Silla. A georgeus telescope that hosts both HARPS and NIRPS. Not my first time but I never grow tired of visiting it. #AstronomerLife #astronomy #exoplanets

I love the jaws saga, but it is really 1 excellent movie, 1 OK movie and after that a total shitshow. Watching 3D and revenge involve a whole lot of "what were they thinking?". It was probably not just Dennis Quaid who was high on coke. #astronomerlife #astronomy #jaws3d

Another fun fact. Years ago Denis Quaid admitted doing a "very aggressive" use of cocaine during the filming of the movie. He said he is high in all his scenes, and that really explain a few things. #AstronomerLife #astronomy #jaws3d

Some nice facts about Jaws 3D. Roy Scheider (lead actor on the previous two movies) agreed to do the movie Blue Thunder to make sure he wasn't available for this movie. He said "Mephistopheles couldn't talk me into doing [it]. They knew better than to even ask" #AstronomerLife #astronomy #jaws3d

The movie also decides to end with this glorious sequence, which is both absurd and so poorly done it's funny. What's with the jaws late sequels and crappy endings? #AstronomerLife #astronomy #jaws3d youtu.be/arsAllZIa1Y

For a cash grab 3rd installment based on the 3d gimmick there's a surprising lack of shark stuff. We barely see it, there are almost no attacks, and when it shows up it is SO SLOW it is painful to watch. #AstronomerLife #astronomy #jaws3d

I have to say I adored this as a kid, and it is still kind of a comfort movie for me, but it is so sloppy, absurd, technically incompetent, and tonally all over the place it really it's difficult to believe it was a big budget movie. #AstronomerLife #astronomy #jaws3d

I'm arrived today to the observatory of LA Silla to observe with NIRPS. As it is traditional, I watched a not-excellent movie during the transatlantic flight. This time it was non other than Jaws 3D! And oh boy it is not-excellent... #AstronomerLife #astronomy #jaws3d

So... my flight to Chile for the NIRPS observations in La Silla has been cancelled less than a week in advance. Let's see how that goes now... #astrophysics #Astronomerlife
