White House Draft Memo Suggests No Guaranteed Back Pay for Furloughed Federal Workers Amid Shutdown

Budget’s real crisis is bloated bureaucracy, not some workers missing a paycheck.

White House Draft Memo Suggests No Guaranteed Back Pay for Furloughed Federal Workers Amid Shutdown

Yeah, and it shows how disposable workers are to them. They shut the place down, refuse to pay people, then call it politics—when it’s really just class contempt disguised as budgeting.

🚨 Trump says some furloughed federal workers might not get back pay. That’s flat-out illegal. The Government Employee Fair Treatment Act (2019) guarantees automatic pay during shutdowns. Ignoring it is punishing workers 4 politics. #TrumpWatch #BackPay #FederalWorkers www.govexec.com/pay-benefits...

White House Draft Memo Suggests No Guaranteed Back Pay for Furloughed Federal Workers Amid Shutdown

It’s not just a memo, it’s a signal. The state’s testing how far it can push labor precarity—turning public service into disposable gig work while pretending budget constraints are natural law, not political choice.

While the illiterate sadist democracy destroyer is stalling fed govt our Senate must pass a NOW. Funds transferred from DOGE theft.

Sen. Kennedy clarifies that only Congress can authorize back pay for furloughed federal workers, not the president—challenging claims from the Trump era and an OMB draft memo. With tradition and law on their side, Congress has historically ensured back pay after shutdowns. See how the debate shifts now at crooksandliars.com/2025/10/sen. #federalworkers #backpay #Congress

threatens to (break the law... that HE SIGNED, and) not pay to "some" furloughed gov't workers.

"How will you decide who doesn't get back pay?" he was asked by reporters.

"Those WHO DESERVE IT, we'll take care of. And those who don't, WE'LL TAKE CARE OF THEM SOME OTHER WAY." 🤬

Trump tells reporters he may break the law and not pay back pay to those Federal Workers he feels "don't deserve it".

Tony Romm highlights a troubling threat: Trump suggests furloughed federal workers might not get back pay if a government shutdown occurs. This risks violating laws designed to protect workers and deepens political tensions. Will lawmakers uphold worker rights or bow to divisive tactics? 2/ #Trump said #furloughed workers may or may not receive #backpay, depending on who they are, adding that “we’re going to take care of our people,” but some “don’t deserve to be taken care of” and would be handled differently. #loyalty #maga #republicans #authoritarian #purity #test #economy #paycheck #shutdown #government #dangerous #media #journalism #reporting Talk About This Please

#Trump signed into #law after the longest ever #GovernmentShutdown in 2019 #legislation to ensure #FederalWorkers receive back pay during any federal #funding lapse. But in the new memo, his #OMB [#RussVought] says #backpay must be provided by #Congress, if it chooses to do so, as part of any bill to fund the govt.

The move by the admin was widely seen as a strong-arm tactic — a way to pressure lawmakers to reopen the govt, now in the 7th day of a #shutdown.

#Trump says #backpay for #furloughed #FederalWorkers ‘depends on who we’re talking about’

“There are some people that don’t deserve to be taken care of, & we’ll take care of them in a different way” Trump said without elaborating.

Asked an again about backpay for furloughed federal workers given that the requirement is spelled out in #law, Trump said: “I follow the law, & what the law says is correct.”

A White House draft memo is threatening NO #backpay for #furloughed workers. But that would have no effect on #Trump & members of #Congress.

The #Constitution forbids a reduction in #salary for the sitting president, thus guaranteeing compensation regardless of a #shutdown, acc/to the Congressional Research Service.

Similarly, members of #Congress are not subject to #furlough & the Constitution states that members of Congress “shall receive” compensation for their services.

#SanFrancisco Superior Court #Judge rejects #Cupertino based #AppleComputer #legal efforts to stifle female #employee #lawsuit over alleged illegal #SexDiscrimination.

A female employee discovered a male colleague’s #TaxReturn form that showed him making $10k more for performing the same job title, a violation of California's landmark #EqualPayAct . Another #litigant hired a third party firm to investigate her #WageClaims and proved she was receiving less pay than male colleagues, and when Apple agreed to her raise, refused her any #BackPay for the years during which she was consistently paid less than men performing similar work.

The court found #Plaintiffs had sufficiently alleged that Apple’s #salary decisions were made in a centralized location pursuant to a #chauvinistic #employment compensation scheme that clearly perpetuates pay disparities due to #GenderBias.

The lawsuit could receive #ClassAction status as there are more than 12,000 female #APPL employees in #California potentially impacted by secret pact under ultimate leadership of #TimCook and cabal of other misogynistic policy enforcing execs.

#Plaintiff #legalteam include lawyers from three firms: Altshuler Berzon LLP, Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll PLLC, and Outten & Golden LLP.

@luckytran I don’t have difficulty seeing wearing glasses, but I have difficulty obtaining glasses if I don’t have enough money to have an eye exam and to then purchase the glasses.

This is way for them to say you’re not disabled if you can’t figure out how to take care of your health with $0 income.

I complain a lot about how it took me more than three years to get payments from the #SSA after applying for #disability.

But the more egregious problem is that when I finally was approved they moved my disability date from the date of the accident that caused it to the date I was able to start seeing doctors again once I obtained health insurance, so I lost a year and a half of backpay because they claimed I was not disabled because I was not under continuous care of a physician, because I had $0 income (because I was disabled) and I had no health insurance (because it was tied to the job I could not work).

Then once I was finally to obtain #Medicaid (after fighting with the state who claimed I wasn’t disabled because I might be able to work if I had spine surgery that I couldn’t have with $0 dollars and no insurance), it took a while to find specialists who would accept Medicaid. Then I had to sit on their waitlist and then wait for an appointment.

Once I was finally able to have that appointment then I was considered disabled.

They successfully avoided paying me approximately $21,600 in #backpay by doing that. And I let it happen because I was so desperate for regular monthly income I couldn’t even care about that.
