Alond Summercourt ascended to the throne by killing or imprisoning everyone ahead of him in the line of succession - and sold his own sister to a hag coven for arcane power. As king he legalized goblin slavery and drove the kingdom to war with the nonhuman/"monstrous" races.
Singing Cricket and his friends toppled Alond and gave him to the hags to take his sister's place.
So while he looks sympathetic, don't feel bad for him.

Just a quick question to all the #DM #GM out there;
What are your favourite way of starting a new party? Do you want them to be friends since before or strangers? How do you do it?
I have realized that I like to force them together via external danger that they have to overcome together.
My first campaign after 18 years of #norpg I used just that one, throwing all players in jail with orders of execution the next day. They where ofc innocent and the local sheriff was bribed by the #bbeg to kill them. And phase one of that campaign was to figure out why and stop the BBEG from trying to kill them 😎
In this upcoming Expanse campaign, the players will start out on Eros and need to co-operate to escape before they gets infected.
It will be fun to discover how they will escape 😁
Today's first #MST3KTurkeyDay film, #EdWood's "Bride of the Monster," gives us a twist on the usual #TTRPG "outcast mad scientist/wizard" #BBEG motivation: An evil scientist rejected by his evil homeland *not* because his plan was too evil, but because they didn't think it would work. Now that it works, they want him back, but he wants to do his evil solo.

I had one of those amazing moments as a #foreverGM at game this past Sunday. With one of the players, I've been building up a character in the background slowly through side 'sessions'; a major mover in the past who's faded into myth and the party has only recently come around to the idea that the player's character isn't making this up or dreaming it.
Well, this last session they finally got to share with the party... and the #BBEG was along for the reveal!
