The @behaviour2023 conference comes to an end. I'm very happy I had the opportunity to present my work about cognitive control in archosaurs🦖 , for the first time with a talk in person.😀
Thanks to Berenika Mioduszewska for the picture.

Using the data from the videogame Dead-by-Daylight (Behaviour Interactive, Montreal) to study social plasticity of prey on their probability to escape the predator! Francesca Santostefano et al. @sciencesuqam @bio_uqam #behaviour2023
Yesterday was a bit of a quieter day for me at #behaviour2023 , so my highlights of the day were Elisa Felsche‘s presentation of our work on #ExecutiveFunctions in children and #chimpanzees , as well as this very yummy Rosinenschnecke ⬇️ . Today finished the conference by learning about the super cool #Durga R package for visualizing effect sizes! Went back to the hotel with „Preussöön Schweinöö“ sing song by Bielefeld football fans on the tram. Looking forward to a hike tomorrow!
Almost the last talk of the conference, but nonetheless I've had many great conversations with some great minds. #Behaviour2023
Thanks for everyone at #behaviour2023, I had such a good time. 💖 Special thanks to
Tristram Wyatt for organizing the
@ScientistRebellion workshop, and to all ~70 others who joined! Action is better than despair ➡️ https://scientistrebellion.org/ways-to-join/
Can't believe it's the last day of #Behaviour2023, strolling in in the sunshine thinking about all the great talks I've seen and people I've talked to.
It's not all done though, still our symposium on plasticity of social behaviour in response to environmental change to come, head to lecture theatre 11.
Also, if anyone wants a beer in the afternoon sun after the conference meet me at Siegfried platz, it's a metro stop in between the uni and the centre 🍻
Is anyone surveying the biodiversity of the tattoos at #Behaviour2023? It would be cheeky of me to take photos, but there are many impressive animals being shown here :)
Very excited for this plenary from Julia Saltz!! #Behaviour2023
Richard Mott (Uni of Leeds): pigs can hear up to 45 kHz, but pretty much all research so far on pig welfare/communication recorded/played only sounds up to 22 kHz. - To pigs, the sounds were probably obvious fakes. - To humans, high-freq noise was simply not there... oops. #behaviour2023
It has been a very great but also long week at #Behaviour2023 so far, but tomorrow afternoon (Friday), 5pm in LH5, you can finally learn more about that weird call that comes before the wolf! So come to Symposium C!
Next up: "there's been an explosion in research on rat tickling. Everyone wants to tickle rats" #behaviour2023

@yaxu This was the "training" stage before testing whether they can discriminate known/unknown humans. They can. The research is by Mylene Dutour #behaviour2023
Amazing what we do for #science sometimes... These researchers went out for weeks, saying the phrase "My elephant is green" to local wild #magpies, exactly 432 times to each magpie. #behaviour2023
Boosting everything I see on #Behaviour2023 ; bring it on! Much enjoying living the conference vicariously, enjoy the meeting to those in Bielefeld! @behaviour2023 #AnimalBehavior #AnimalCognition #AnimalBehaviour #TeamChicken
So excited by our symposium on the idea of habitat as an extended phenotype! If individuals have a certain control on their habitat (and it can be done through different ways) we have to consider it as a feature of the individual with many different consequences for ecology amd evolution. Great talks by @pimedelaar, Melanie Dammhahn, Peter Korsten, Freddie McKenzrick and Katie Morrow. Thanks to all of them! Always great to collaborate with my friends Sam Patrick & Niels Dingemanse #behaviour2023
Are you at #Behaviour2023? Come see my talk tomorrow (Thursday) at 12:00 in lecture hall 2!
Inspiring plenary talk by Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka on gorilla conservation and public health #Behaviour2023 🦍
A great talk by @griesser about how selfish benefits drive the formation of family groups in Siberian #jays. #Behaviour2023 social #evolution.
Beautiful and inspiring plenary talk by Mauricio Cantor on human-dolphin cooperation 🚶🏽♂️🐬 #Behaviour2023
