Black Eyes Announce Comeback Album “Hostile Design” Produced By Ian MacKaye

Post-hardcore outfit Black Eyes return with their first new album in over two decades. The band has released TomTom, the lead single from Hostile Design, out October 10 via Dishcord Records. Produced by Ian MacKaye, the record marks their long-awaited follow-up to 2004’s Cough. Known for their chaotic energy, interlocking rhythms, and politically conscious lyrics, Black Eyes were a defining force in Washington, D.C.’s early 2000s underground. TomTom reintroduces their sharp-edged sound, capturing urgency and innovation. With Hostile Design, Black Eyes reclaim their place as a vital voice in experimental punk.

Without a doubt one of Dischord Records most influential bands of its later period, BLACK EYES are known to be a force to be reckoned with. Their dual drum kit attack often decaying into absolute end of set mayhem. Their Self Titled and “Cough” LPs have effectively become later era post-punk canon, known for their rhythmic intensity and distinct groove. I know I have zero reach. But! if you're in LA this weekend you could do a lot worse than seeing Black Eyes on Saturday or Sunday or both. Frenetic, noisy, chaotic, and loud. I'm so excited they're playing some shows and I hope they do some more. Hard to believe it's been 20 years.

(Full disclosure I was in a high school band with Jacob of Black Eyes, we were in a band inexplicably called Drunk Cows. He went on to this cool stuff, I went on to, well, nothing)
