A person needn’t be suspected of a crime in order to be surveilled under the program, and a warrant isn’t necessary to get the information. Per the letter, the “chain analysis” that DAS utilizes allows it to not only monitor those who have direct phone conversations with those who are suspected of a crime, but also to monitor the calls of people with secondary connections to suspects. In other words, people who call people who have called those suspected of committing a crime.

#USA #Surveillance #ChainAnalysis: "A little-known surveillance program tracks more than a trillion domestic phone records within the United States each year, according to a letter WIRED obtained that was sent by US senator Ron Wyden to the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Sunday, challenging the program’s legality.

According to the letter, a surveillance program now known as Data Analytical Services (DAS) has for more than a decade allowed federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to mine the details of Americans’ calls, analyzing the phone records of countless people who are not suspected of any crime, including victims. Using a technique known as chain analysis, the program targets not only those in direct phone contact with a criminal suspect but anyone with whom those individuals have been in contact as well."

By the way, we have been using DFCA #bigTechBlocker and found that a concerning number of #bigTech firms are running #I2P nodes. One is (very conspicuously) running both #Tor (non-bridging nodes) and I2P nodes.

Are you aware of this?

And now look who is getting involved in the #ChainAnalysis game - Mastercard, lol. Already wealthy credit card companies are now going to make even more money deanonymizing you, so it might be worth your time to re-evaluate #Hush and #HushChat. Come get some #privacy!

There are more than 72,000 unique IP addresses detected linked to Iran. These addresses were either involved in direct cryptocurrency transactions or were used to query the blockchain to verify funds

@myhushteam @metal3d @matt @tim @thefuzzstone @TheFuzzStone wow, that video makes it really clear that #Zcash works with #LawEnforcement & companies like #Chainanalysis. If you want any privacy, do yourself a favor and don't consider Zcash for your privacy. #Monero (#XMR) is pretty great :ablobcool:

@mishari Make sure to add these "fun" facts about #Zcash to your list:

4. They actively works with #LawEnforcement and #ChainAnalysis companies and brag about it.

5. Only 6% of the userbase actually use #private addresses.

6. The company wants you to use transparent addresses (& does NOT promote #privacy) so that they can further #profit off of you.

@matt @metal3d @tim only 6% of the #Zcash userbase even use Shielded (or private) addresses, so it really should be renamed to #Tcash.

Let's not also forget that they actively work with #LawEnforcement and #ChainAnalysis companies, unless you're into that type of stuff.

WARNING: Prof #RichardWolff is doing the rounds conflating #Bitcoin and #memeCoin.

Like we didn't guess someone would.

He's also spreading #disinfo about #cryptoCurrencies saying the govt can't track them without mentioning basic #chainAnalysis and #Cloudflare control of #exchanges etc.

Didn't figure #RichardDWolff as a #FiatCurrencyApologist but there you go. We were always a bit lukewarm about him and now we see why.

If you follow him a least you've been warned.
