Oh man. Yeah, I was hospitalized a couple times for #ClinicalDepression

One of those times, a fellow patient had Electroshock.

Saw him after. He didn't remember ANY of us, but it was the first time I'd seen him smile, or for that matter anything other than horrifically miserable.

A 1981 symposium co-sponsored by Hilda Sokol of Dartmouth Medical School called to our attention, hereabouts, a sometimes neglected local hero, the Brattleboro Rat. The Rat has been a very useful creature in various medical research fields, ranging from diabetes to learning differences to depression. When I bring up this topic, people typically think I am joking; but actually it is very serious. We should raise a giant Brattleboro Rat statue in Pliny Park.

Yesterday I started a new novel which was absolutely not what I had planned. But almost 5,000 words later I'm deep into Chapter 1. Furthermore I've got the basic ideas outlines & the 2nd novel planned.

Did I mention I suffer from clinial depression? No.

I'm a delight #MentalHealth wise. I have #bipolar 1, #adhd, #clinicaldepression, #BPD, and #generalanxiety. I used to write /heavily/ on my disorders at my old blog and on the bird site, but once, after decades of trial and error, I'm finally stabilized and have been for the last few years.

That trial and error has a lot to do with how insurance companies. My diagnosis appointment was nearly $2K USD out of pocket. Who has that kind of money sitting around?

It's important to me that books where the MC, or someone in the book, has #mentalillness it's treated with respect and compassion.
