Anyone doing the #conquerorchallenge and want to be challenge buddies? I'm doing Bangkok! #exercise #motivation

I get an ‘ok’ amount of walking exercise and do around 45km to 50km a week, but I would like to increase this, and thought this would be a fun way to do it. I might even graduate to slow jogging 😅

Since 14th December, I've received the following postcards on the the_conqueror_challenges Golden Triangle virtual challenge: Agra Fort & Taj Mahal.

"Agra Fort, [was] the Mughals’ former residence when Agra was the capital of the empire, prior to its relocation to Old Delhi. It was built in the 1560s by Akbar (3rd emperor) as a military base and royal residence. The fort’s bastioned outer wall has a semi-circular shape with two entrances."

"Built by Shah Jahan over a period of 22 years, the Taj [Mahal] is a memorial to Mumtaz Mahal, his favourite wife, companion of 19 years and mother of his 14 children."

Feeling major fomo at the moment while I do a #ConquerorChallenge around Transylvania. I had been planning to take a trip by train from London to just outside Brașov to visit a bear colony in May 2020 and had to cancel because the world went to shit.

The virtual trip is lovely and all but man...

Four photos of the area are included. The first is a verdant landscape of pine trees and mountains broken by a dammed lake flowing through the centre. The second is an overhead shot showing a stylised statue of Zeus - it is large and jagged as if made from steel lightning bolts (the statue in fact holds two bolts). The third is a close view of the lake and the fourth a view from the other side where the dam meets a mountain.

I finally finished the Yosemite Conqueror Challenge this morning. I walked and biked 70 km.

I've just started the Ring of Kerry Conqueror Challenge, and I'll be walking 200 km. #conquerorchallenge

My goal is to finish this challenge by the end of the year (I calculated it out wrong when I set it up lol). I'm very close, so I hope I make it. Then I'll start 2023 walking through the Mines of Moria XD #LOTR #ConquerorChallenge

My latest Conqueror Challenge medal arrived for completing the NZ Alps to Ocean 180 mile challenge. It’s taken me most of the year due to health issues. I walked and biked from Aoraki to Oamaru. #conquerorchallenge

*Squee!!* My Lord of the Rings #ConquerorChallenge: Mines of Moria 64km medal arrived! Somehow I completely forgot I even had this coming 😂

Everytime one of these comes in the mail I’m honestly in awe of two things:
1) The fact that these medals are so gorgeous.
2) Even with being on oxygen I’ve managed to push myself (albeit at a really slow snail’s pace 🐌) to complete each of these challenges — some of them are really long!!

The Mines of Moria medal doors can be opened! Inside the arch of the open door is another vertical mini banner that almost looks like it could represent an arch keystone; it has the same word “Conqueror” broken up into 3 rows of 3 letters: CON, QUE, ROR. Inside the door’s archway stands a Dwarf king wearing a crown and holding the pommel of his sword so the point is down towards the ground. He stands behind the original “Mines of Moria Virtual Challenge” stone. There is a secondary arch the King arands within which has Dwarven text along the left and right sides of the arch, with columns decorated with dwarven geometry. The medal’s doors are beautifully inlaid with gold & silver geometric patterns & knot work(?) of presumably dwarven origin.

The back of the Mines of Moria medal shows the Balrog standing within the silhouette of the Mines. The Balrog’s holding whips of fire in each hand & flame burning above its horned head. At the very bottom of the medal it says “YOU SHALL NOT PASS”.

Finished my #conquerorchallenge to virtually walk across the English Channel. Bit cheeky that they said the distance was 21 miles and then they made you walk round for a bit when you got there though.

Am currently doing #conquerorchallenge. Also forgot I organise #yayswap. Favourite game is #thewitness so it'd be nice to find anyone else who has played that! Would really like to stroke an aardvark's nose please and thank you.
