#Videodrome is rather good. It's not in every movie you get someone whipping a flesh TV.
And it works so well with the 70s/80s video tape format -- like, you could update to some dark web/video download tale, but it would lose something. It's nice to see fleshy video tapes breathing.
I don't think this movie needs any deep analysis. It seems pretty straight forward to me:
Just contrive the events to make some #BodyHorror and have a couple of weird body horror deaths.
The underground network the film is about is merely a MacGuffin. It's there to drive the plot in an illuminati way, but the only aim of the film is body horror.
And for that it's charmingly honest, I think. Does what you expect from a #Cronenberg movie.
The effects hold up too. Surely, they look a little fake now and then, but very done.
