My very final track for #Noisevember. I've had a great time churning out noise this month, I hope you've enjoyed listening. This last one is a calming coda of swelling noise, composed using a recursive method I've been playing with for a while. Has a nice long quiet tail. Cheers! soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conro

#Noisevember is almost over! Here's another guitar-based thing with live Csound processing, another experiment in getting waveforms to interfere with each other. Using a new method here, but it's a little subtle, but the whole thing came out nice, I think. Enjoy! soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conro

Very abstract-looking close-up of an electric guitar string with lots of circles of confusion from dust on the dusty guitar. Nothing in focus. The string runs from top to bottom just to the left of center.

#Noisevember! This one's not noisy, but we're all friends here, right? I continue to try to understand ways to have two signals "interfere with each other spectrally" and this was an experiment with one way that involves the exponential function. soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conro

#Noisevember! A drone for once. This one is 8000 sound events trying to sound like one. Success? soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conro

#Noisevember! Tried a little live-processed flute. I've had this flute for 50 years, since 4th grade, but have not played it at all for many years. Processed it with Csound, doing the delayed-copies-of-the-signal-interfere-with-each-other-spectrally thing. I should clean my flute. soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conro

#Noisevember! Another recursive composition with filtered noise. This one has longer sound events for a generally smoother sound. Enjoy! soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conro

#Noisevember! This one is another experiment in my project to compose using recursion, in which each sound event may create more sound events. I still haven't figured out how to control it very well, but it makes some nice noise here using filtered noise sound events. Enjoy! soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conro

#Noisevember! For a change, some rhythm. Random rhythms and timbres from a piano recording I made a while ago. Woot!

#Noisevember ! I know, my Noisevember tracks haven't been consistently noisy. Then there's this. I built this little box a few years ago with six Schmidt trigger oscillator, just with a single knob to control the pitch of each. Quite noisy by itself. So I thought I'd live-process that with a Csound instrument (like I've been doing) to crank up the noisiness. It makes me happy! soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conro

A home-made electronic device with six potentiometer knobs in a row across the top. The power switch is there, too, but it is blurry. Background is a cluttered table top, all pretty blurry.

#Noisevember ! Shortest track so far. Processed another field recording of a trombonist with a vocoder I wrote in Csound. Still trying to get a certain sound out of my vocoder... soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conro

#Noisevember! More experimenting with live-processed sound using Csound. I like ring modulation, and I am trying to find things that are like ring modulation, but are not ring modulation. In this track, delayed copies of distorted guitar interfere with each other spectrally in a not-exactly ring modulation fashion. It's not really ring modulationy enough, so I'll have to keep working on it.

anyone hacking with #csound ? the stuff I'm trying to do basically works but when starting an instrument that records to an ftable (tablew) it starts recording stuff ~1 second in the past before even scheduling the instrument. changing -b -B and ksmps etc didn't change anything. would be grateful for any hints.

Android joy with Termux and Csound

huge props. to codeberg.org/tomara-x/csound-p but keep in mind that Fedora isn't working on Android 15 (it's already reported at the proot-distro repo.) and Void doesn't have Emacs at the aarch64... so you can use Debian and apt install pulseaudio and there's no need to add PULSE_SERVER=127.0.0.1 at .bashrc

Csound running on an Android phone with the help of Termux and Emacs!

Part of some sound experiments. Here, I played a tin whistle and modified the sound, live, with a Csound instrument that has delayed copies of the signal interfere with each other spectrally. No oscillators. soundcloud.com/matthew-m-conro

dear diary, i was revisiting my exercises with physical modeled instruments (after a shame insight on my previous "designs" [simple oscillators with ADSR]) and i noticed i created a counterpoint with a different edo than the cantus-firmus!

Csound's score syntax beautifully rendered on the Emacs! (it's just a bunch of text in a white background)

I recorded 15 layers of guitar, each processed live through a different Csound instrument that I wrote anew for each layer. Each layer is simple, each has its own timbre. Somehow I find it all comforting.
