The allure of the night… Weekly Recap 12/2/2024
I’ve never been particularly inspired during the morning. Actually, I find it rather hard to even think clearly until at least 10am.
I usually wake up with a quiet mind. As the day goes on, I hear more and more music in my head. And by the night time, my brain is in overdrive with melodies and ideas.
Out of all the songs I’ve ever written, none of them were ever conceived early in the day. And I try, as much as possible anyway, to write the bulk of these posts during the evening. There is just something alluring about the night that my causes my creative processes to respond.
If I had to sum it up in one word, I suppose it would be “stillness.”
It’s always been this way for me, even during years where I completely flipped my schedule and worked the night shift (11pm – 7am) for a tech company. The darkness is interesting. The moon is inviting.
I think this is one of the most simplistic energetic correspondences that people can start to get behind. The sun’s energy is very different from the moon’s energy. Night time feels very different from day time.
And as much as I love sunlight, I’m definitely more of a night person.

Selene had some time off from work, so we had a nice and peaceful past week. And by “nice and peaceful,” what I really mean is filled with cooking and food.
If you celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you had a wonderful time. We’re still chowing down on leftovers.
Look at that turkey! All of the dishes were made by my wife and kids… except for the sweet potatoes — that’s my one thing. Also, not pictured: pie.
Guys, I found out that Selene had never tasted pumpkin pie. Yes, for years my wife has been making me pumpkin pie and telling me that she does not pumpkin pie… but she had never actually had pumpkin pie.
So we remedied that.
And the final verdict? She does not like pumpkin pie.
Oh well. It shall still remain as one of my favorite pies of all time.
Amongst the holiday festivities, I also posted a write-up for Part 2 of my Agatha All Along series… and continued the StaarCon 5 spotlight with Cardsy B. More StaarCon presenters will be featured soon!
Selene found an awesome Black Friday deal on a pre-lit Christmas tree, so like all the other chumps in the USA, we found ourselves shopping… in person… during the most crowded and terrible shopping day of the entire year.
But the tree itself is pretty kickass. It looks awesome! This is the first year we haven’t gone with a real ChristmaYule tree. I do miss the fresh pine scent filling the house, but I will not miss constantly vacuuming to clean up fallen pine needles.
And we got this really cool ornament at Walmart. We try to add a new one each year.
I think I’ll keep it short and sweet today. It’s going to be a pretty busy week, so as usual… stay tuned for more!
