Just attended my first #deRSE conference - what an experience! Good software is the foundation of modern research and Open Science. The role of Research Software Engineers (RSEs) is more crucial than ever. So let’s support and strengthen this community!

Very much enjoyed the meetup with the #Berlin and #Brandenburg regional chapter of the #deRSE society. It was great to catch up and very much enjoyed the talk by @sdruskat on software citation. I wrote down some notes from the meeting on my blog

Have you ever struggled to re-use a replication package from software-engineering research papers and you did not know why? We also don't know but maybe we can explore this together?

Jacob Krüger (@jkrueger) and I are organizing the Hackathon "Making Replication Packages Usable (Again)" at in Würzburg, Germany March 5th-7th, 2024.

Last week, I was part of the founding of a Special Interest Group within the #GI (Gesellschaft für Informatik, Society for Computer Science). Through various coincidences, I had the opportunity to present the #NFDIxCS initiative and witness the process of its establishment. Official statements will follow, which will also introduce the substantive topics. #deRSE

@msuhr @gittaca For those who use librecat.org for their institutional publication repository, the #Conquaire project at Bielefeld University developed something similar for GitLab:

I brought a Conquaire poster to #deRSE which I will present today.

Q: What's the difference between #FLOSS & #RSE?

A: Science can be more niche, so not every research software project may become a community project, but there is no conflict between them. #deRSE
