I’ve finally started #digitising my #analogue #film #archive. It’s a mammoth task, but one that has to be done. So, the process begins; cleaning the #negatives, #scanning, processing, and then cataloging and keywording. This will take a while! #photography #35mm

Much of my new #digipres mahi (job) is community and commercial liaison. In #digitising the #heritage of our district communities, there is much that has been collated which is officially "private" and/or "copyright" so there is a LOT of contacting various people and organisations to make sure we have their express permission to place certain images and articles in the online archive. Otherwise we can only preserve them digitally on the hard-drive storage. Today I contacted a large #NZ magazine!

@KingSara Funfact, I'm currently #digitising the #history of the #Murihiku #Southland #WesternDistrict #HumpridgeTrack as it becomes a #GreatWalk #Aotearoa #NZ in a year's time... I think a few people will come & do multiple walks.

I've put the Baldur's Gate #aquarelle under the #scanner last night; I think I actually like the results from photographing it with my phone better. The #Canon #MG2550S makes it look rather pale, and some of the brush strokes seem to stand out more?
It can probably be improved quite a bit in post-processing, but I was hoping for better results straight out of the box.
(I also need to do manual cropping, as it doesn't recognise the borders well enough...)

Fellow #artists, any recommendations when scanning or otherwise #digitising your work?

I remember someone on here posting a blog about #digitising their family #VHS tapes and #hosting them on a server for their family, but I can't find any links in my bookmarks or favourites and I can't remember the name of the software used for hosting the #videos to narrow down a websearch either - anyone able to help?

Does anyone have any experience with #scanning and #digitising #books? I'm trying to pare down the final bits of my collection and want to scan generate #epub copies with searchable text.
