Baia del Vento

A rocky beach on the western shore of Lago di Garda, with beautiful views over Italy's largest lake. Here I was looking out over the San Fermo peninsula and Isola del Garda. While this is a private beach, meant for guests of the vacation homes and restaurants adjacent to it, it was all but deserted this early in the morning.

I came across a strange IT 'solution' the other day.

The Canon printer at work is using a 'counterfeit' print cartridge.

Solution: Change the IP address to a static IP address.

Odd solution indeed.

🇺🇸: Philodromus margaritatus is a spider species native to Central Europe and belongs to the family Philodromidae. Females reach a body length of 5 to 6 mm, while males reach approximately 5 millimeters, making it a medium-sized native spider. The species is widespread in Central Europe. Philodromus margaritatus prefers coniferous forests, but can also be found in deciduous forests.

🇩🇪: Philodromus margaritatus ist eine in Mitteleuropa heimische Spinnenart aus der Familie der Laufspinnen (Philodromidae). Die Weibchen erreichen eine Körperlänge von 5 bis 6 mm, die Männchen von ca. 5 Millimetern, damit gehört die Art zu den mittelgroßen einheimischen Laufspinnen. Die Art ist in Mitteleuropa weit verbreitet. Philodromus margaritatus bewohnt bevorzugt Nadelwälder, ist aber auch in Laubwäldern anzutreffen.

Wieso sehen Vogelmännchen und -weibchen teilweise so verschieden aus, obwohl sie dasselbe fressen? Beim Männchen landen die Proteine und die Farbstoffe im Prachtkleid. Bei den Weibchen hingegen in den Eiern. Das Ei selbst besteht aus dem Eiweiß und den Farbstoffen, um genau zu sein den Carotinoiden, im Eidotter. Im Allgemeinen kann man sagen, dass die Weibchen mehr Eier legen, je prächtiger die Männchen sind. Beides, also die Prachtkleider und, sofern vorhanden, der Balztanz der Männchen und die Eier der Weibchen sind Zeichen für die „Fitness“ der Vögel, also für ihren Ernährungszustand und ihre Gesundheit.
