I am watching #FritzLang‘s unacclaimed final #film, the third in his otherwise celebrated #DrMabuse series, The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse. It’s not as bad as I expected, but although it’s supposed to be an expressionist antifascist allegory about an evil criminal mastermind who may have risen from the dead to cause world chaos, it seems like it’s more about buxom women bending over in low-cut dresses.

Georg W. Papst ist doch eigentlich bekannt, zumindest in meiner Welt in der ich mich bewege.

"Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari" kennt man doch oder? Aber wirklich interessant ist "Der Schatz" von G.W.Papst.

Vielleicht ist bei der Serie "Babylon Berlin" doch keine Dr. Mabuse, sondern ein Dr. Caligari zu sehen.

Dr Mabuse is one of the greatest diabolical criminal masterminds in fiction. In Germany he became a pop culture icon on the scale of Sherlock Holmes. Dr Mabuse was created by Norbert Jacques in his 1921 novel Dr Mabuse, der Spieler (Dr Mabuse, the Gambler).

It's outrageously complicated and melodramatic and the ending goes right over the top, but it’s weirdly fascinating and compelling.
