All in all, the electric rental car did cost 9.06€ Cent per km driven (just the recharge costs). This includes some expensive chargers, as well as some free charging.
In contrast, the gasoline car was 10.85€ Cent per km.

Found a "cheap" charger in #Marseille (#France) ... only 8 Cent per minute, with 2.3 kWh.
The 60 kWh battery in the Mégane needs about 26 hours for a full charge, at around 125€.

We're going from Málaga to Gibraltar.
It's only about 150 km, not a long distance, and we won't need to charge along the way. We plan to drive along the coast to see the sea.

The hotel in Málaga has charging stations (for a fee) in the underground parking garage. Plug in the car, check in int the hotel, and go to dinner.
After dinner, the car is fully charged and I park it in a different spot.
The actual lunch stop is at the Área de Servicio La Parada Puerto Lumbreras. There are also fast chargers here, and by the time we've finished eating, the car is fully charged.
Next to us, a Volvo FH Electric is charging with 350 kWh (according to the display). The truck has a range of around 300 km, and is almost fully charged already.
I wanted to talk to the driver and hear about his experience with the truck, but didn't get the chance.
In #Valencia, we find out that the charging stations in the Westin Hotel underground parking garage are free.
The car will charge until after dinner, then I'll move it.
