Lovely afternoon for a history hike on the #EnoRiver! In addition to our friendly and knowledgeable #EnoRiverAssociation guide, we were fortunate to have two local genealogy enthusiasts who had each traced their personal ancestry in the area back to the pre-Revolutionary War era. And of course it turned out that they were distantly related...

A wealth of local lore on a glorious sunny day - what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

My favorite sign of spring along the #EnoRiver... Daffodils at the Fannie Breeze homesite off the Cox Mountain Trail in the Eno River State Park!

Lovely hike on the Cole Mill and Bobbitt Hole trails at the #EnoRiver with @honusharp, Donald, and their goldendoodle Arwen this morning!

Saw a bunch of frogs, turtles, fish, and butterflies, as well as one smol snek. This Eastern Pondhawk decided I made an acceptable perch in the sunny parking lot, too!

Everybody wants to live at the #beach. Take a sliver of vulnerable land on the #ocean and next thing you know a whole city has popped up. #plants #EnoRiver

A log in the water a few feet off shore in the Eno River. An array of plants have sprung up on the log resembling the kind of development you see on the barrier islands off the North Carolina coast.

It was great joining folks at Eno River Association building trails at an upcoming preserve yesterday. While there is so much work yet to be done in this union, and we suffer from the aftermath of a troubled history that still impacts and harms people until this day, I believe that public lands accessible for all to enjoy in principle is one of the most radically beautiful ideas ever.

My ongoing project of photographing the Eno River that flows through Orange, and Durham counties has been active for more than a decade. I have made photographs there in all seasons, at all times of day, in most locations along the river. In 2021 I released my monograph "Riverwalk: A Decade Along the Eno" after 2 years of prep.
The hardcover edition sold out in 48 hours. It was very gratifying.
I'll be sharing the images in posts to come. #EnoRiver #FilmPhotography
