I’m astounded by the compassion people show on this platform. It means so much.

I’m 37, living in Oregon with end-stage kidney disease, and urgently need a living kidney donor. My blood type is A+. NKR covers all donor costs—travel, lodging, medical, and time off work across the US.

"Using US healthcare data from over 280,000 adults, researchers found that doubled the 12-month risk of advanced chronic disease compared to influenza even in patients without early kidney injury."

My kidney donation journey has officially begun! My page is live, and while it will take about a week for my full story to be shared, you can explore the basic site now: nkr.org/PZG643. Every story shared brings us closer to raising awareness and saving lives. I’m committed to making a difference, and I hope my story inspires others to consider becoming a donor.

What's scary is the following re 90% ... 👇

"Around 90% of people with disease—9 in 10 adults—don’t know they have it. Why? Kidney disease often has no symptoms until its later stages. Many people are also unaware of their risk factors and don’t know when to get tested."

‼️ 90% ‼️

Take a moment to let that sink in.

I was not told that I have until I was diagnosed with three years later in the ER.

@philosopher Kudos!

I was diagnosed w/ early 2023 after 3 yrs of suffering w/ 75+ symptoms after in 2020. Was told dialysis is inevitable. Also diagnosed w/ + that quarter..

Started Feb 2024. Went on in Fall. All except 2 of my biomarkers returned to normal. Kidney biomarkers improved later that year too. My Nephrologist told me in Fall and this year that my have stabilized. ❤️

Which interventions help ameliorate one of the most frequent symptoms that people with #ESKD suffer from?

Cochrane gives some answers.

Next step: ask yourself if they play a role in our current every-day #dialysis practice?

Brillian text on #PROM in #CKD and #ESKD.

My bet on #swift outcomes: 1) QoL-complaints will be high.
2) Interventions won‘t show any effect, because having ignored PROMS for 30+ years means we have little or no tools at all to adress these issues in current SoC.
3) such tools are rehab, exercise, psychological support, social support and transplant - and they are all heavily under-utilised.

Sad to read (but not surprised ) that survival of people with end stage #kidney disease #ESKD remains lower than many #malignancies.

On overage - 9 years of life lost if transplant not possible
