Growth

The cultivation of Ents is not fundamentally different from that of other arboriform species, except in their case, music actually has an effect on their growth. That said, as surprising as it may seem, their favorite genre is death metal.

Freydis and her friends got together on Saturday to go sing karaoke.

"You're wearing the dress!" Fluffdusti exclaimed. Raven wore the gothic dress found on their adventure in the Labyrinth of the Fox Goddess.

Raven blushed. "I really like it," he replied. "Anyway, I had no choice."

Freydis frowned. "What do you mean?"

"When a goddess gives you a dress," said Raven, "you wear the dress!"

“We shouldn’t have opened the module yet,” Meera whispered, her hands shaking so violently she nearly dropped her phone. “The physical cost… look at Ajay.”

Ajay didn’t look up. His nose was bleeding — a slow, dark trickle of violet-tinted blood. “We don’t have a choice,” he rasped. “The Ides of March module isn’t an ‘anytime’ tool, Meera. Check the documentation.”

He swiped his screen, the Witchcraft 101 interface flickering with a black-and-red UI. “It only unlocks during the ‘Borrowed Days’ — a 72-hour cosmic fluke where Friday the 13th aligns with the Ides. March is the month of debt-collection. If we don’t initiate the ‘Pralaya’ patch by midnight on the 15th, the ritual backfires and eats us instead. It’s now or never.”

Challenge #04823-M074: The Wager of Import

Wraithvine lost a bet with a family that runs an orphanage. What did they want in return? A magical pouch of edible and medicinal plant seeds that never emptied no matter how many were planted. They would never again worry about not having enough to feed the kids. -- Anon Guest
[AN: personally believing this is some kind of test by the orphanage because of mummers and fraudsters pretending to be hir. Only Wraithvine would purposely lose a bet to help an orphanage]

It began with a rambunctious toddler running off with Wraithvine's breadroll. Sans a tailclout. Of course ze rescued the little rogue from the path of a speeding carriage, and of course ze asked about where the little one belonged.

"With those grungy overwashed clothes?" sniffed one of the roaming highborn. "
That has to belong to the orphanage."

Wraithvine thanked her and made a mental note to teach the area some manners at a later date. The small child needed their carers. And the orphanage needed it too, if the tot was stealing
bread. Of course Wraithvine let them keep it. Ze could not do otherwise and still be hirself.

Soil

"We vampires", sait Count Scarlat, "have a concept of the right of soil. That is to say, soil has power over us, of life and death, if I may say so. We are at its service. Thus, if you harm the soil, vampires will rise against you."

“Maximum depth achieved, Doctor,” his assistant Nicole reported, her voice buzzing with pride. “Tissue sample from Subject C looks clear. Complete cellular ablation.”

Henry waved a dismissive hand. “Good. Now, push the power regulator to eleven, Nicole. We need to confirm stability under full therapeutic load. This isn’t just about micro-tumors; this is about conquering all disease.”

Nicole hesitated. “Sir, the simulation recommended a buffer. We are already at the margin P max."

“Nonsense. The calculation is sound. My calculation is always sound,” he hissed, the hubris thick and intoxicating.

He’d shaved off a complex string of variables, dismissing them as ‘dimensional friction,’ unnecessary clutter that slowed computation. What he’d mockingly titled ‘A shortcut for brilliance.’

Challenge #04822-M073: A Glass For Your Health

Ereshkygal has directed Wraithvine to a most unusual place, a vineyard growing plants partially in the human and fae realms. The wine vintage it produces makes those who imbibe translucent for a few hours with no other effects. It's unclear if this is harmful, no one seems to have been so far, but the Goddess must want something of the unusual vintage… -- Deathshead419
In eons past, say the stories, the Great Dragons pulled stars from the Plane of Magic to toss them into the sky. Those stars fell to the surface of Alfarell and became the world's first Elves. There was still a patch of the world called Faefell. Blue grass grew there, along with interesting crops.

One of those was a remarkably ordinary-looking grape. The vines it sprouted from had taken on Escherian tangles, but the grapes themselves were perfectly mundane.

Wraithvine puzzled at the presence of the vinyard. Yes, this land did contain a
lot of the essences of Nanogh. It was evident in the fact that no straight lines could exist within its borders. People had long since given up on trying. Even the grass grew up twisted, and Sprites cavorted freely among the leaves.

I wanted to write something for Friday the 13th, and considering it's just in time for Ides of March, there was no good reason not to combine the two for this piece. What brought them together perfectly, was me considering adding the

He had just finished a press release announcing that his company was the first in history to have zero human overhead. *Aura*, his AI hive-mind, was managing everything from global logistics to the temperature of his bidet.

'So she cured him of hil ailment?'

'Yes.'

'And as payment, she asked for the power to ensure maturation in fruits?'

'No. That she can already do. What she asked for is the power to teach that power, as many people as she wants.'

Challenge #04821-M072: Drop of Death

Ice from the south pole's glacier which once had been trodden on by a dragon, a diamond stolen from a queen's tiara in the midst of a dance where she finds her love, the lock of a babe's hair taken at midnight whilst the father does paperwork, the tooth of warrior freely given before he wins victory.
What in the world potion will these make? -- Deathshead419
Impossible ingredients make an impossible potion. Something to do that which could not otherwise be done. The ingredients have circulated widely since the dawn of writing. Whispers told that if one could make the potion, then one could defeat death itself.

And since the world knew of Wraithvine, everyone chasing the myth believed ze had it. How else, they supposed, could ze have become immortal in the first place?

They also theorised that the story about a god's heart was misdirection at best, and an outright lie at worst. Nothing is more resilient than a conspiracist's belief, and they will bend the reality in their heads to make it all fit properly.
