東亞巨木的身世之謎
上個月去了宜蘭林場參觀，買了一瓶林業蒸餾的臺灣扁柏，氣味比起以前買的日本扁柏，顯得格外衝動、年輕、有活力，一開瓶，氣味直衝眉心。
想起之前在書上讀過（書本參考圖二），關於扁柏歷史的內容，其實它存在於地球上的時間遠比我們想像的久，從化石記錄推估，第四紀冰河時期就存在了。
現存的扁柏屬植物有6位成員，分別是美國的尖葉扁柏（東岸）、美國扁柏（西岸）、日本扁柏、日本花柏、臺灣紅檜和臺灣扁柏。
學者推測，在冰河時期，植物種子透過已消失的白令陸橋（現在太平洋白令海峽位置）、北大西洋島橋，分佈到世界各地，這也解釋了為什麼美國東部跟臺灣都能看到扁柏屬的植物。但隨著天氣變化、動物遷徙、冰河融化、海水上漲等因素，讓扁柏屬成員四散在亞洲和美洲的角落。
再聞一聞羅東買來的臺灣扁柏，啊！果然是闖蕩過江湖的靈魂，才能有這麼魅力的香味呢！

I was in the elevator in the hotel. Wearing my #Ukraine 🇺🇦 national team jersey. The other man in the elevator was shocked. He is Ukrainian, from Poltava (Полтава). Poltava is WSW from Kharkiv.
He was more shocked that I knew Ukrainians from nearby his hometown, and that we met on his first trip to Taiwan. 🇹🇼

Work conversation yesterday, discovered the Chinese for (electrical) circuit is 電路, which is literally “electric road.” Which is a fairly literal translation of the English, when you think about it.

• JTWC reports 1-min wind speed of 125kts/144mph/232kph with gusts up to 150kts/173mph/278kph.
• It will start to weaken as its circulation moves into #Taiwan, cutting off fresh supply of warm sea water.
• It will make landfall between #Yilan and #Hualien late this evening, and exit through #Taoyuan and #Hsinchu early Thu morning.
• Upon exit, it will gain new water supply from its southwest quadrant with no land barrier. The worst rainfall is yet to come.
