@sad_electronics nodds in agreement

In 2019 I literally had a fresh highschool grad with their A-level starting a dual study / apprenticeship program in 'business administration' and was working for a MSP when I delivered them a new desktop to their office.

  • They didn't knew how to use a keyboard and mouse! All they could do is use their fucking iPhone.

I internally "bluescreened" amidst the weapons-grade #TechIlliteracy and I thought I was being pranked by them but no, they were serious and I had to teach them that this ain't a touchscreen so one moves that pointer by mimicing the movement and typing in the text by pushing buttons.

  • And mind you this person was certified to be ready to study at a regular university, but couldn't even connect their personal #iDevice to the guest WiFi they worked at.

Like this wasn't some stupid ex-prisoner who was in a slammer 20 years and had to start their life anew in some shitty warehouse job or something, but a 19 year old with enough money to just go out and buy themselves a PC on a whim.

  • And this wasn't like a fancy riced linux but a box-standard Windows 10 mini tower...

Formatted some README instructions for iDevice dumping.

Trying to use #Monal, an !XMPP client for #iOS, on my #iPad.

Like most iOS software, my reaction while using it is “F*ck! F*ck! F*ck!” until I close the app. Tell the #CIA that they can legally waterboard any #iDevice user, since they are already used to torture and seek it out.

Looking at the record in the company #iDevice, this 12.3 miles is the most #walking I've done since I got the phone in 2016-FEB. The 2nd most was 10.6 miles https://nu.federati.net/notice/538457 on 2017-SEP-16.

And here come the phone calls and e-mails. I'm turning off the #iDevice, so I can get some sleep. Tomorrow's a #hairport day.

#Today (2017-07-18): 12,738 steps; 4.9 miles. #walking

That is according to $EMPLOYER's #iDevice. Currently trying a pedometer program on my personal phone, but it doesn't seem to be as accurate in counted steps testing. I may need to try a different location (pocket) or make sure the phone is vertical. (It records 7,685 steps.)

The company #iDevice is still dinging with ticket assigned messages, even though today is my day off.

Took a couple of trips around the block. The #iDevice says I walked 4.3 miles. It doesn't seem that far, but I do remember driving the loop 4 years ago to see what the car said. It was slightly over 2 miles.

Remembering that this is based on what an #iDevice says, I think today (after my trip to the store in a few minutes), my #walking distance may approach 7 miles.

#Today: 9,424 steps; 3.4 miles #walking. Or so the #iDevice says. It was starting to rain as I left for lunch, so I just crossed the street instead of going a half-mile each way.
