Our Smoke Bush/Tree has many colors, in the leaves and the bushy “flowers” and stems, especially when the morning sun is bright through the limbs. Tried to capture that with this iPad painting.

Quick sketches (as in 20 minutes or less) from a trip to the mall yesterday. Mannequins are so good at posing. 😀 Drawn freehand on my iPad Pro using the Sketch Club app. #digitalart #Art #ipadart #artapp #drawingapp
It was a Friday afternoon. Twenty years ago this mall would have been bustling. I would have had to park at the outer stretch of the parking lot. Yes, there’s still people. But maybe 1/4th of what I used to see. Online shopping has had a major impact. Doesn’t help that there was a shooting in the food court a few months ago. Some dispute between young men. I see it as a once-off. This isn’t normally a dangerous neighborhood. That’s just life in these United States. Alas.

On a visit to the Shofuso Japanese House and Garden in Philadelphia I made a small ink sketch of the tree in the pond, then added color on my iPad, celebrating spring. #SilentSunday #trees #iPadart
Finished a sketch today. l am on a copying the Old Masters kick. It’s a great way to learn. This is based on the Old Master work “The Bride,” 1886, by Anders Zorn (1860-1920), watercolor, in the collection of the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, the national gallery of fine arts of Sweden. Drawn freehand on my iPad Pro using the Sketch Club app. About 2 hours work. I’d have to work way longer to come close to the real painting. #digitalart #ipadart #sketchclubapp
