The Evri app, which I have just installed, allows you to move a map pin to your precise delivery location.

EXCEPT — it doesn't account for how wide an area a UK postcode can cover. In our case the geolocation for the postcode is always a BT exchange nearly 200 metres down the road. The closest I can drag the pin to is about 50 metres short of the house.

BUT — turns out if you drag it one time as close as you can and then save it, you can then change it again and it starts at the new spot so you can then drag it the rest of the way. 😂 #kwality

Having made the mistake of taking a car to Canadian Tire for something "simple" like an oil change or a tire swap 20+ years ago, this doesn't surprise me at all.

Because I’ve been annoyed with lately, I figured I’d try out . Started with a Galaxy Watch 7. First thing I tried was using the timer on the watch. Simple. And yet it’s completely broken. When the timer reached the end, neither the restart or close button worked. Had to force quit the app.

Am I losing it? How can something this simple not work?

Older VMs running 15.1 also seem affected now. Though I don't believe they were blocked previously. Seems they will update apps already installed from the App Store, just won't let me install ones not currently installed (even if already purchased). So at least I should be good for Xcode (though that could be installed outside of the App Store anyway probably).

Hmm, seems macOS now detects if it's running in a VM and blocks logging into Apple services. Can't download/update apps from the App Store anymore. Guess developing and testing in VMs is now a dead end.

Anyone know if the new M4 Mac Studio's make your screens blink like the M4 Mac Minis? I'm still flabbergasted that this is considered ‘normal' and 'expected’ for the Mini (it apparently happened on the M3 too and still wasn't fixed for the new ones).

Follow up. Thanks to @gruber’s article here: daringfireball.net/linked/2024 I checked what my iPhone considers my significant locations. It’s disabled! So I have no significant locations. How does the system let me enable Stolen Device Protection without it turning on significant locations?

WTF . I’m minding my own business, and get an alert on my watch & phone. “Sign in with your AppleID”. Ok, why? I enter my password anyway. Then: Locked out. WTF? Then worse. I can’t unlock my account for an hour because I’m not at a familiar location. I’m home. Where I rarely leave. If my home isn’t familiar, where the hell is?

It seems like every tool sold at the big-name "home centers", no matter what brand, is in a race to the bottom, quality-wise. I gave up and started ordering from actual specialist tool sellers, and make sure the part numbers I'm buying aren't available at Home Depot, Lowes, Rona, Walmart...
