I am so tired of reporting that considers actions as theatre rather than as governance.

Yes Victorian Labor has a branding problem, not helped by the lazy ‘Victoria is terrible’ narrative adopted by national media since 2020. (National reporting on Victoria’s COVID response was Terrible. Their continual misreporting & misrepresenting of the Andrews government’s actions & communications added immeasurably to the trauma of those years.)

I want our elected representatives to pursue good governance, adopting policies to achieve explicit outcomes in support the common good.

Reporting that limits itself to theatre & balance sheets while not even discussing the real questions - what are the problems these policies are designed to address & how effectively will they do this? - is a Big Fail.

Sadly I expect mostly vaccuous pap where political journalism used to be from the ABC these days. I hope for better from the Guardian. Shame on you. Do better. #LazyJournalism #AusPol #VicPol

Why do articles like this never mention that the customers who sexually harass these retail workers are men?

Maybe bc it’s so obvious that it doesn’t need saying.

Focusing instead on the experiences of female staff who are targeted for abuse, & the policies of the stores where this happens, continues a familiar practice of accepting some men’s predatory behaviour as normal (boys will be boys, he was drunk, he’s a good bloke) & expecting women to be responsible for managing the consequences of that behaviour (can’t you take a joke?).

Surely we’re past this by now?

Yet still this framing passes as normal. As does too many men’s predatory objectification of women.

See it? Name it. Silence is complicity. #misogyny #harassment #objectification #complicity #LazyJournalism 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

So eine Überraschung aber auch, dass der «Experte» mit dem Geschäft für Ladendiebstahlsicherung zum Schluss kommt, dass Diebstähle «ganz enorm zugenommen» haben. 🤦‍♂️

#lazyJournalism

Textausriss aus einem Artikel zu Ladendiebstählen:

Mehrere angefragte Ladenketten wollen gar keine Stellung nehmen.

"Rachel Reeves has three options to dodge an economic crisis and all are unthinkable"

This headline is rubbish. They've written about them, so clearly they *are* thinkable. The writers thought about them. The options may be unconscionable perhaps. But they're evidently not unthinkable.

Here is an example of lazy/negligent reporting re: pending elections in Canada & British Columbia

[2024-Sep-23] B.C. crime/public safety incidents ahead of fall election
bc.ctvnews.ca/a-look-at-recent

* minimalist content: simply a listing of crimes
* no rationale for the article
* no authorship attribution
* no editorializing: context, need, purpose
* no references, citations to primary literature
* no statistics
* no discussion of crime trends (up or down)

That CTV/Canadian Press "article" (simply an unreferenced listing of crimes) is a disservice to their readers and the broader population, who need balanced reporting. It's lazy journalism, exemplified - no editorship whatsoever.

We expect/demand better: investigation, disclosure of sources / citations, links to main content sources, accountability, balanced reporting

It's a train, possibly a nice train, but I can't see anything "Giga" about it.
The passanger capacity is pretty much what you would expect from a commuter train, and in no way mind-blowing.

Still nice of #Yahoo to regurgitate what the Tesla PR sent them... #LazyJournalism
Being Yahoo it's likely no actual journalists were involved in this.

@wood5y for some bizarre reason, not really related at all, that reminds me of an episode of Grand Designs. It was about 1km from my own distinctly ungrand house. Kevin McCloud was expounding on the glorious views across to the Cotswolds. The only way you'd see the Cotswolds from that house would be with a 250m periscope or the ability to set through about half a kilometre of 600 million year old granite.

Of course, all three articles are just #copaganda at this point because they’re just printing what the police department told them happened. No qualifying the statements with “According to police…” Just straight printing what the police PIO says as though it’s fact. 🙄 #LazyJournalism
