Life in the countryside probably has many parallels in every country in the world.

For over 70 years, three photographers from one family photographed a village in Thuringia: Ludwig Schirmer, Werner Mahler and finally Ute Mahler, who later co-founded the renowned Ostkreuz photo agency.

Many of the photographs are currently on display at the Akademie der Künste Berlin.

Producer: VEB Polytechnik Karl Marx Stadt (GDR)

The Poly-Play is the only video game machine to have been produced in the GDR. The Poly-Play was primarily distributed to privileged institutions such as leisure centres run by the confederation of trade unions. Just over 1,000 machines were built before the demise of the East German regime. Each machine cost approximately 35,000 East German marks.
