So pissed off with myself #today
Now that I'm about to start drafting the last fantasy book, I'll be moving back to alternating "drafting this/plotting that" working, which has worked really well for me in the past. So the next thing on the plan is a series of SF thrillers featuring the characters from my very first book.
I was pleasantly surprised to find I'd already sketched out not only the bones of the plot but quite a lot of the meat too. Almost exactly three years ago. No wonder I don't remember doing it. The balloon of my happiness was soon deflated by the prick of harsh reality when I came across mention of a story I'd provisionally entitled "Electric Shock."
I'd drafted the first 1000 words as a candidate for submission to a thriller anthology, but beyond that I have no notes of any kind. I intended it to be around 25-30k words, set sometime in the 5 years that have elapsed between books 1 & 2, and to use it as a reader magnet for the series. But three years on I have zero recollection what the story was going to be about, and having checked all my Scrivener projects and writing folders, I find I didn't write a synopsis or even as much as a one-sentence logline. What an idiot 🤬
