@deadbeefdotmonster @vyr Oh, yes, the Palm OS 5 was excellent and quite useful.

I had completely forgotten about the Sharp Zaurus! The emulator was originally written for one.

Also, yes, I'm very familiar with jcs@ work, including his classic Mac OS C programming! Highly suggested and glad you're spreading the word.

@deadbeefdotmonster @vyr Very cool! I used to have an m100 and was learning C on the Macintosh at the time, so didn't really delve into PalmOS very deep.

In the early aughts, I was trying to decide between a Tungsten/Sony Clié/Palm Treo on in one hand or older 2100 in the other. "I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference," to quote Robert Frost.

(I think I prefer an underdog. Or, maybe I'm just a masochist?)

Waiting for my plane at … starting off this weekend’s adventure to @SDF’s Interim Computer Festival in Seatttle.

And yes, there is a Newton in my carry on.

An Apple Newton MessagePad 2100 being held in front of a window in the YYC international terminal. An image of Calvin appears on the screen. A rainbow Apple logo is positioned on the front of the case, below the screen.

I dug up my old #Apple #Newton #MessagePad 130, put in a fresh set of 4 AA batteries, and fired it up for the first time in ages. After setting the date and time, I went back to the start and asked it to show me today’s agenda. I guess its calendar can only handle a limited date range, because it sent me back to March 7, 1991. #VintageComputing

@mcc @mhoye The 2100 was just an excellent device. I still miss certain features it had. For example, you could drag text/images with the stylus and drop it at any edge/margin of the application. You could drop as many snippets as you like. Even if you switch to another page, the snippets were still there and you could drop it.

Here is even an enhancement request for that is inspired by it:
