2 months of experminents and testing (not daily of course, just calendar flow) and I have LWOB, LWO2 and LWO3 geometry loaders done. i support all the procedural materials from LWO1 and I think LWO2. node system from LWO3 is still a subject of evaluation. Only vector faces loaded for now, now nurbs or curve patches or bones, but still with huge respect of history I have made my own, minimalistic (code size/complexity) #Lightwave3D file loader that can work with LW versions from v.3.5 on Amiga up to a recent one 2025 I believe (not tested, no acess, last version teated for file save/export was 2020 here, still from Newtek). As Modo is free now for 10 more years and it’s hugely influenced by Lightwave and even supports Lightwave file formats, I’d say I also support Modo (subject of further testing).
I already like it more than Assimp regarding Lightwave support.
Milestone achieved, anyway. Now I carry on with the scene files
