Brightly-colored Palau endemic with a pale gray (almost white) head, neon orange belly, pink forehead, and leaf-green back and wings. Yellow tail tip is especially prominent in flight. Inhabits forested areas throughout Palau, where it can be more easily heard than seen despite its bright colors; listen for its distinctive series of accelerating coos.

Medium-sized, dark brown shearwater with silvery flashes on underwings. Narrow wings with quick, deep wingbeats. Widespread and common, especially in the Pacific; can sometimes be seen close to shore. Can be in massive flocks. Extremely similar to Short-tailed Shearwater, but Sooty is heavier and has straighter wings; also look for slightly longer bill and less rounded head. Brown plumage is reminiscent of Flesh-footed Shearwater, but Sooty is narrower-winged and has a smaller, all-dark bill.

Hefty, long-tailed finch with a very limited range in western Panama. Its olive-greenish body with contrasting black head and bright yellow tufts at the base of each leg make this bird distinctive. Poorly known, but behavior apparently similar to Yellow-thighed Finch (no range overlap); found close to the ground, working through low tangles and bushes in pairs or small groups. Sometimes ventures up into the middle levels. Prefers forest and edges.

A brown babbler with a mostly white head. Note the yellow eye and the gray-brown rump. Found in areas of dense scrub and thickets in dry country, often near water, almost always in groups of several individuals. Similar to the white-headed subspecies of White-rumped Babbler, but easily separated by the dark rather than white rump. The call is a raucous babbling, usually given by a whole group in chorus.
