The Murdoch press is banging on again about the “worst government ever”. No surprise there — but we don’t need to dig too far back to find a real contender. The Morrison government takes that crown by a country mile. Here's why:

Secrecy and Scandal
Morrison quietly swore himself into five extra ministries without telling the public or even his own cabinet.
Add in the sports and car park rorts, where public money was splashed around marginal seats like Monopoly cash.
And let’s not forget Robodebt: an illegal, automated cruelty that drove some to despair and led to a royal commission.

Climate Denial and Delay
He literally brought a lump of coal into parliament.
While fires and floods worsened, his government blocked real action on renewables and dragged its feet internationally.
At global climate talks? Sometimes he didn’t even bother showing up.

COVID Bungling
“It’s not a race,” he said — as the vaccine rollout stalled and the country locked down longer than it needed to.
And when things went wrong, he pointed fingers at the states instead of taking responsibility.

Corruption and Control
Promised a federal ICAC — never delivered.
Presided over raids on journalists and a creeping culture of secrecy.
Public broadcasters and key institutions were politicised and muzzled.

Wedge Politics and Division
Ran culture wars on everything from gender to Australia Day.
Kept the far-right sweet while banging on about “quiet Australians”.

Call that leadership? That wasn’t a government, it was a slow-motion train wreck in a smirk.

acting PM Richard Marles told a defence summit in Australia that the nation would inevitably be involved if a conflict broke out between US and China (The Australian); #richardmarles continues the same purpose as #Morrison and the Liberals had. We have swapped gov with one war mongering government bent on destroying our economy to appease a tyrant with another with the same agenda. #labor #auspol

What did #Morrison do to deserve Australia’s highest honour?

Just look at the extent his government shovelled taxpayer dollars to consultants compared to the last ten years.

All those consultancies donated back to the #LNP.

Let’s see … can I spell systmic corrptn … systomec coruptn … cystemic coruptn … no, it seems not. I guess I won’t be referring it to the #NACC (National Anti Corruption Commission) then ….

Hey #ChangeOrg, can you run a petition for the elimination of the existing Australian Official Honours system?

Giving a #Gong to #Morrison is the final straw.

If there is to be an Australian Honours system going forward, it should be limited to people who do stuff for which they are *not* paid. That is, honours should not go to anyone who just does the job for which they are paid - politicians, Governors General, CEOs etc.

<<Scott Morrison receives country's highest honour for leading Australia through COVID crisis>>

*The Monarchy is a Joke
*Morrison’s a joke — in very poor taste
*Awards are a joke
*putting all these elements together — australia is a joke

because we are what we value — as individuals or as a nation

i’m happy that at least some people got a long weekend out of all this. that’s something to value, right?

May I just add one final word on today's #Morrison shitshow? If it wasn't for Sally McManus (sec of the ACTU), Morrison would not have initiated Jobkeeper, as it was her intense lobbying that pushed him over the line. She's the one who should get the gong, not that she'd accept a piece of shit like that anyway. Ok, rant over. #AusPol #JoinYourUnion

@abcfeeds Our political system is so good at giving each other pats on the back even though the public know they have destroyed lives and in Morrison’s case proudly caused people with mental issues to commit suicide. If you think #albo wasn’t part of this then i have fake federal #icac to sell you. #auspol #robodebt #morrison #albanese #labor #lnp

If #Morrison had gone to be at his #HorizonChurch to see the new leader, on the #Aussie dollar, people would be screaming.

Linda Reynolds on her way out the door sez morrison was a victim of a deliberate plan. it must be labor’s fault everybody thinks he’s a pillock’s anus: here’s an extract from hansard;

<<Unfortunately in this speech I can't completely avoid dealing, at least in part, with what I now refer to as 'the plan'. I have never disputed, not once, Brittany Higgins's claim about what happened in my office in the early hours of one Saturday morning. Brittany Higgins and David Sharaz developed a political #MeToo plan based on a simple but very powerful lie—a lie that has now resulted in the longest and largest political scandal in our nation's history and one that is well into its fifth year. Brittany always knew the truth. Justice Lee dealt with this in his judgement, where he sets out the false representations and false warranties given in her settlement deed. Justice Lee said, 'What is notable about Ms Higgin's account of a cover-up or victimisation allegation is not only its inconsistency with the contemporaneous records and its falsities, particularly as to Ms Higgins's dealings with Ms Brown but also its imprecisions and reliance upon speculation and conjecture.' He also said:

… putting what occurred at this meeting—
on 1 April—

and the events of the preceding days together, a clear picture emerges, but it is entirely at odds with the notion of an attempt being made to cover up an allegation … by discouraging it to be reported to the police.
The moment Labor's leadership made the conscious decision to politically weaponise Ms Higgins's allegations, my life and the lives of so many others were changed forever. Every human being, no matter how strong they are, has a breaking point. Labor deliberately and so very surgically and relentlessly found mine—whatever it took. That type of persistent and aggressive personal attack would never be tolerated in any other workplace in this country. Labor so badly wanted the allegations that a female cabinet minister and a prime minister had covered up the rape of a young woman to be true that they didn't actually care if it was true or not, I believe. Consequently, as a result of their actions, Labor failed to exercise any proper judgement or independence before becoming so publicly involved in perpetuating a story that Justice Lee described as 'insufficiently scrutinised and factually misconceived conjecture'.>>

anyway, the article link below will take you to video if you have the stomach for it. tbh my eyes glaze over when i read about it, and i’m glad i was never on any related jury. i have lived a long time in this very sexist country; leaving job after job because of harassment and assaults. i would convict the lnp on principle/ out of bias, but the fact an overtly right wing msm got behind higgins on this matter is compelling. goodbye linda; if you look, walk and quack like a crumb-maiden, you probably are
