I'm not sure, if an #AI using web service by #Microsoft is the right place to discuss freely and open-minded about dangers of #LLMs and #bigtech.

@feld @p @silverpill @jeffcliff ok, very interesting to read these thoughts on the degraded state of IPFS and how unfit it currently is for use with fedi (in browser as an add-on and as a server).
it fits with my thesis that foss on m$github is getting slowly compromised, by the shell accounts that the corporate state have on that weaponized platform.... a controlled platform, at best, and a platform that deanonymizes devs, which is a way to control them at the very least.
Id consider going back to 2021 and looking at their codebase then, and comparing it to today, there were some very prominent independent media folk talking about IPFS back then and so i suspect that THAT is when the controlled demolition may have started. My understanding is once the corporates have their sights on a codebase they force the programmers to accept bad tradeoffs. Trade-offs exist everywhere, and permutations of tradeoffs can be chosen ad-infinitum. my learned experience is that foss on mshithub tends to not improve in ways that would allow it to compete with corposhit, especially in the #ux department.
to accelerate :butterfedyC: fediverse centric adaptations, just over a week ago i wrote about having #ipfs on another repo and i now, having read both your comments i think it may need to indeed be a fork. a week ago i suggested the acronym DCN (decentralised content network) a tongue-in-cheek reference/reversal of CDN....
so yeah if anyone wants to run with that idea, u have my blessing
@Hyolobrika @nadia the year is 2024.
this is important. because in 2024 there is no longer an excuse. #msgithub
@ChrisMayLA6 also I read this about microsoft's #copilot, an infringement on the freedom software license, this whitepaper by Stuart Fitzpatrick (Doctoral Candidate, Western Sydney University, 24 Feb 2022) who suggests that it indeed is a violation.

So I would say that bigTech themselves are out of control, if I was a government I would probably make there services unreliable and slow by dropping packets of big tech. Just dropping 2% of packets at random might be enough, to slow them, and there data abuses down considerably.
How about just starting the day by saying, "Today I will not use Microshaft GitHub, or CloudGlare GitLab, because its time to support a diverse #ecosystem of development, and by feeding monopolies I would in the long-term, hurt myself and those I love."
Start the day like that and get the fu$k over it.
Has anyone successfully setup #BTCPayServer to federate over #I2P network, rather than than Tor?
From this resource it would appear not:
https://web.archive.org/web/20230108230651/https://github.com/btcpayserver/btcpayserver/discussions/4505
While on the topic of #federated systems, aren't #bitcoiners embarrassed that they're on the invasive #MSGitHub platform? This question extends to #fedizens who list the #MicroShaft forge prominently in their bio.
The sooner we use alternative #forges day-to-day, or move to something like #ForgeFed the better.
@mconley
Now we just need them to stop sending things to Google via "#GoogleSafeBrowsing" and other telemetry.
Or get them to publicly endorse the #DigitalFeudalismCounteraAction setup that blocks the plutocrats at the network level. 😄
If they are seriously using #MSGitHub at Mozilla, then really what hope is there?
If everyone in #GNULinux and #FOSS was an unencumbered #whiteHat, #Microsoft wouldn't have existed beyond 2017, possibly sooner.
It's clear that #blackHats exist in the #freedomSoftware space.
How can we expect blackHats to gain knowledge on whiteHats and to inhibit them? Universities? MSGitHub? #LinkedIn? CloudFlare'd services?
Our thinking is 'all of the above', but the most effective tools hide in plain sight — #MSLinkedIn and #MSGitHub.
Use them at your eventual peril.
@jeffcliff
We have long known that #MSGithub's business plan it to "love #openSource" like a #BoaConstrictor.
A few years ago now they blocked Tor-based contributors. It was the canary in the coal mine.
What is the rate of change in #universities hosting #freedomRespecting software #repos these days?
@KrauseFx
Thanks for the news about #MSGitHub, Felix.
If the brick and mortar element of #GitHub is lost, so too will part of its #CollateralFreedom charm.
In that sense, we say good riddance, and hope to see replacement #repos emerge.
We should say 'unknown' to us at this time. The code is reportedly "#openSource" and on #MSGithub. Unsure if FOSS, we haven't delved into it far because we shun MS served content.
We were curious about a project called "#Fedi", or #FediMint that apparently does multiCustody #bitcoin in a "community context, with "privacy by default". Interoperable w #LightningNetwork.
Upon visiting site, we learned it's on #MSGitHub written in Golang, and gets "generous support and donations" from #Blockstream, #ObiNwosu, #Einundzwanzig HumanRightsFoundation (#HRF), #Ten31, #Spiral.
Really just putting this out there, for the record, please don't see this as an endorsement in any way.
When it comes to knocking out any possibility of interacting with a project, the #MSGitHub/#gmail jab-cross is one of the least creative.
@moshy
Ah, yes we remember this, now (its been a while since we last tried to have this theft stopped).
Yes, the page they link to at #MSGitHub is a 404 error. Disgusting.
We need to start taking this software theft seriously. We are suprised that #TruthSocial was so heavily pursued but a server pumping a literal #shitcoin, seemingly to young people, is not.
It should raise many an eyebrow.

- hostile to #burnerAccounts — and enforces it. BurnerAccounts are important for privacy because…(1/3)
