I always assumed the Vienna Ensemble Pro Server software was buggy as hell, but it turns out it was all in the interaction with Studio One.
After I started using Cubase, it's been rock solid. I'm working on a project now, and it's been running for weeks on end without a single incident.

I suppose pencil & paper's probably the place to start 😅

Oh😯I never used #Finale, I was on #Musescore and then #Dorico for the last few years. I guess they are winding it down and offering a Dorico discount to try and make it up to their users. I like Dorico, but I'm not sure I'd be thrilled about that.

I used to use a piece of software called AudioPaint, written by Nicolas Fournel, which converted image files into audio by looking at different colour elements, etc.. It was a fantastic source for context-free tonalities, much like opening Windows DLLs as raw audio files.
