Remembering the magic of Atari 1040, running Steinberg 24 and using a bw Ferguson portable TV as a monitor. Mine had a 2mb ram upgrade!

I don't even know what happened to it. The boyfriend lent it to some DJ guy and I never saw it again.

This is your regular reminder that nobody has yet made a VST of the Maplin 5600S/3800 and ETI 4600 synths, and SOMEBODY SHOULD.

A great illustration of how horrendously fiddly sequencing was pre MIDI let alone pre DAW computer software by the excellent Alex Ball

I always assumed the Vienna Ensemble Pro Server software was buggy as hell, but it turns out it was all in the interaction with Studio One.

After I started using Cubase, it's been rock solid. I'm working on a project now, and it's been running for weeks on end without a single incident.

Fediverse bass players:

What's your process/tools for tabs notation? I'm dissatisfied with a lot of the tabs I find online (duh) & want to do more of my own tabs.

I suppose pencil & paper's probably the place to start ๐Ÿ˜…

But any suggestions? I want to do proper notation (see ๐Ÿงต) not just text-based tabs.

I've used musescore but they've gone completely commercial now?

Suggestions? ๐Ÿ™ & boosts appreciated.

"okay, that's enough vst plugins for now, I'm gonna use them all first before I buy a new one" and other lies I tend to tell myself on a daily basis

my 1tb disc space is mostly occupied by vst stuff ._.

Oh๐Ÿ˜ฏI never used #Finale, I was on #Musescore and then #Dorico for the last few years. I guess they are winding it down and offering a Dorico discount to try and make it up to their users. I like Dorico, but I'm not sure I'd be thrilled about that.

A new #interview with another great #developer of #musicsoftware is online on my #blog!
This time it is my friend Oskar Schachtschneider from #sinuslabs, the maker of the #reach and #bandbreite #plugin (s) for #linux, macOS and Windows. Check him out here: amadeuspaulussen.com/blog/tag:

I used to use a piece of software called AudioPaint, written by Nicolas Fournel, which converted image files into audio by looking at different colour elements, etc.. It was a fantastic source for context-free tonalities, much like opening Windows DLLs as raw audio files.
audiopaint.software.informer.c

Does anyone know of a more recent app that has this kind of functionality, converting images or other data into sound? Mac, Windows or Linux are all good.
