Please pardon my nitpick, but your third person cases aren't using pronouns at all.

Standards-compliant group 3 fax (ITU T.4) can be done at modulation rate as low as 4800 or 2400 bps (V.27ter), but those are only 1600 and 1200 baud, respectively (8 and 4 constellation points).
AFAIK, V.29 was far more common, at 9600 bps, with fallback to 7200 or 4800 bps. All three rates operate at 2400 baud, with 16, 8, and 4 constellation points, respectively.

@atoponce sorry to break it to you but per spec it's not a valid uuid4 implementation

Implementations SHOULD utilize a cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator (CSPRNG) to provide values that are both difficult to predict ("unguessable") and have a low likelihood of collision ("unique"). The exception is when a suitable CSPRNG is unavailable in the execution environment.

Yes, the (wrongly) so-called "Spanish Flu" was more or less exactly 100 years before 2019 but HIV/AIDS has killed far more people than COVID-19 (so far).

YT Video: "Hall effect keyboards are getting too cheap" ME: "SHUT YOUR FACE" This argument/statement is forever shit regardless of the technology. Stop saying it. We don't live in a world where things becoming affordable hurts people; We live in one where things being unaffordable do! #Pedantic

@Photo55 You're right, but it probably won't surprise you that I try to vacuum the carpet and websearch the internet. As the unofficial motto of so many scientific trades goes: "you don't have to be autistic to work here, but it helps". 🤪

And yet I use eponymous words like "quisling" and "boycot" (and indeed I admire the Norwegians and the Irish for consigning those of whom they disapproved so enduringly to villainy), so I'm sure there will be commercially derived words that I use - just as you describe - but I am ignorant of their etymology.

Just to be clear, Robert Holmes didn't invent The Autons until 1969 and and we first saw them in Spearhead from Space in January 1970. :-)

Probably not, since according to Gell-Mann's own interpretation and pronunciation of Joyce's word, it actually refers to the sound of sea birds, so that would be rather confusing if ducks also quarked. (Especially if said sub-atomic ducks pronounced it correctly - i.e. rhyming with 'pork' and sounding similar to 'quart' (as in 'of beer')).

Linguistic battles I have lost (American English) because people can't figure this shit out so now wrong is right:

The subjunctive case is dead: "I would prefer you not do that" has become "I would prefer you don't do that," and "He suggested we go quickly" has become "He suggested we went quickly" (or something even sillier).

How much I care: 7/10 (tooth-grinding level)

The past perfect tense: "If I had done that..." is now "If I would have done that", etc.

How much I care: 6/10 (hard grimace level)

Step foot: "I have never set foot in that house" is now "I have never stepped foot in that house".

How much I care: 9/10 (choked-down swear words level)

Based off of: This is deeply stupid and should never be used, ever. The correct form is "based on."

How much I care: 113/10 (will correct the fucking president in the middle of his fucking State of the Union if I'm in the room)

Edit: Yes, I know I've lost these battles and more. That doesn't mean I'm happy about it.
