This is a #Supergirl #fanart I did way back in the 90’s when #PeterDavid was on the title. Peter David made Linda/Matrix/Supergirl such a great character that it inspired me to draw her,I would not expect anything less from whatever Peter David wrote. He made amazing comics, with beautiful flawed characters.

#RIP #PeterDavid was a kind man by nearly all accounts & kindly spent a few minutes to speak to me and my young artist child on occasion in a busy line of folks he zeroed in on each of us & addressed us as he did every weirdly dressed nerd who crossed his path, as a human whom he could learn from or about or entertain.
My favorite #StarTrek exist in his novels.
My fave comics bear his name.

I was very saddened to learn of Peter David's passing. His run as a writer on the Hulk was a gamechanger in terms of adding humanism and depth to a seemingly limited superhero character. I was fortunate enough to interview the man back in 2008. You can listen to my in-depth podcast interview here.

Peter David, the Eisner and GLAAD Media Award-winning comics writer best known for his work on "The Incredible Hulk," has died at age 68. David also wrote for characters such as Captain Marvel and Aquaman, worked on "Star Trek" comics and wrote on the TV shows "Babylon 5 and "Space Cases." He had been ill for a number of years, with a GoFundMe having been launched in 2022 and relaunched on May 20 on behalf of his wife, Kathleen. "Medicaid, which had been taking care of his Long Term Disability, has just dropped him. As a result, medical care and living expenses are mounting beyond current control," the description said. Ihmettelin kun tämän viimeisimmät olivat aika ponnettomia, mutta ilmeisesti ollut lähes jatkuvasti sairaalassa kolme vuotta. Kaksi ensimmäistä oli saanut yleisestä sairasvakuutuksesta kuluja katettua, mutta viimeisen vuoden joutunut maksamaan omasta taskusta, jopa 20k$ kuussa.

It was sad to read of the passing of comics legend Peter David.
His version of the Hulk was the only version I've ever liked of the character.
And his run on Supergirl during the 90s was regular reading in the House of Love™ II.
I know there is an element in personal responsibility in retirement but the impoverished circumstances of #PeterDavid's last decade is an indictment on a system for which he made millions, if not billions of dollars
So much of his work (novels for TNG, B5, etc and comics Hulk, Aquaman etc) was the watering that nourished these universes so they would flower into the next phase of their popularity.

Really sad news yesterday about Peter David passing away. He wrote many of my favourite comic book runs in vol 4 of Captain Marvel. So much so that I had my single issue collection bound into a custom omnibus. Well, the first half of it any way.
One of the best long form writers of his generation. His runs on X-Factor and the Incredible Hulk were also fantastic.
