Nature is a Medium
Artist Talk by Yuki Anai
[JAPAN] 🇯🇵

🗓️ January 20, 2026
🕙 10–11 AM
📍 Online

RSVP — PM us if you want to take part.

Japanese media artist Yuki Anai uses light and sound with and by means of sensory technology. His installations are predominantly inspired by nature. He sees elements such as the sea or rain as messages whose meaning he decodes in his works.

His projects have received the Asia Digital Award, the Best Award of Smart Illumination, and an invited exhibition at the Ars Electronica Festival.

RTIST TALK: 1024 Architecture

🗓️ January 6, 2026
🕙 10–11 AM
📍 Online: RSVP via PM if you would like to take part.

Vibrations
Exploring the interaction between forces, time, sound, and space: focusing on generative architecture and the dynamic relationship between movement and sound, using parametric tools and natural inspirations to create immersive and continuously evolving experiences.

1024 Architecture was founded in 2007 by Pier Schneider and François Wunschel, both architects. In 2014, they were joined by Nico Merlin, also an architect and composer, who became part of the studio. Since then, the collective has focused on creating and producing audiovisual installations, merging architecture and visual arts into a body of work that has gained international recognition. From small-scale objects designed for indoor exhibitions to monumental installations in public spaces, what sets 1024’s works apart is their unique approach to space through the use of geometry, light, sound, and movement.

I Have Nothing More to Say
by Daria Lukianchuk

I Have Nothing More to Say explores burnout, isolation, and human communication.

In a dark, enclosed space, a low-frequency hum represents constant background noise, thoughts, expectations, and societal pressure. When a visitor makes a sound, the hum stops, the environment falls silent, and the human figure begins to glow. The work reacts to external stimuli but never speaks back, raising the question: does communication still matter when there is no reply?

The installation invites reflection on emotional exhaustion and the feelings of isolation and loneliness .

Dimensions: 40 Ă— 40 Ă— 30 cm

Software: Arduino IDE, Cakewalk by BandLab

Hardware: XIAO ESP32, DFPlayer Mini MP3 Player, microSD card, basic microphone module, breadboard, jump wires, MOSFET transistor, resistors, LEDs, speaker, 5V and 9V AC adapters, crocodile clips

Structure: wooden boxes (MDF/particle board), electronic waste (used as sculpture material)

ighting Fundamentals – A Primer for Application and Manipulation
Workshop by Ioannis Oriwol

This hands-on workshop explores lighting as both a technical medium and creative tool for media art and design.
Participants will gain understanding of lighting technologies, from historical incandescent systems to modern LED fixtures, and learn methods for manipulating light in installations and performances.

Key topics include light source types, fixture varieties, physical modification (lenses, filters, gobos), electrical control systems, and digital manipulation through DMX programming. The afternoon session offers time for experimentation.

Ioannis Oriwol is a media artist whose practice is creatively influenced by his work in the event industry. Currently studying Media Art and Design as well as Fine Arts at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, his artistic approach is media-archaeological, working with found and historical lighting equipment to create installations and performances.

Accept All Cookies 🍪
by Elif Kalender

Accept All Cookies is an interactive installation that reimagines surveillance as a reactive presence, rather than a central, all-seeing eye.

Visitors are invited to “accept the cookies” by taking one, triggering sensors that activate the surveillance state. The work highlights how we constantly give away personal data online, often without realizing it.

Two moving head lights are placed at opposite ends of a corridor.

Phase 1 – The Search
As long as no one takes a cookie, the lights move randomly on the X and Y axes, scanning as if searching for their next subject.

Phase 2 – State of Surveillance
When someone reaches for a cookie, the sensors activate and the system locates the visitor. The lights immediately shift from passive search to active tracking. The visitor becomes the observed.

Software:
Arduino, TouchDesigner, Adobe Audition

Hardware:
LED Spot Moving Head Light Ă—2, DMX Cable Ă—2, Enttec DMX USB Pro Interface, Extension Cables, Distance Sensor Ă—2, Arduino Nano, Bluetooth Speaker

Summaery 2025 | This is (not) a Networking Event

We will probably soon reach the figure of 50 billion when we look at the things and objects that are connected to the Internet.

Who is actually communicating with whom in an ever-evolving world of networked objects and systems?

The exhibition explored playful, mysterious, imaginative, and ecological ways of dealing with things and objects that communicate, exchange information, and relate to each other.
