I'm not going to make friends with this, but I can't stand the "torches and pitchforks" mentality of some "progressives" especially online.
Today, I'm seeing some people being upset because Kevin Spacey has been invited to Cannes or something, and that's an outrage because, you know, he's been accused of sexual abuse and...
And what exactly?
Last time I checked, you're innocent until proven guilty. But not with sexual offenders apparently. You're guilty and unredeemable as soon as you've been accused of something.
And guess what happened to Kevin Spacey after he was accused? A lot of the charges against him were dropped, and the ones that were not dropped and became an actual trial? Well, he was acquitted.
But that's not good enough apparently. He was accused. That's it, that's the end. Once you're accused, you should be blacklisted and cancelled until... Until when exactly? Forever?
Because, even if he (or anyone else) was found guilty, you know that in a democratic judicial system, there are different sentences, and once you have done your time, it means that you have paid your debt to society and in theory, you should be reintegrated into said-society.
But strangely, not for "progressives." For them, rehabilitation doesn't exist. Once again, once you've been accused, not even an acquittal will be good enough, so I let you imagine if you're actually condemned.
I'm as leftist as possible, but I really really hope these people never get to be lawmakers one day, because I guess according to them, once accused, you don't even deserve a fair trial, it's a life sentence, or possibly the death penalty right away.
