"Witch of the Gathering Wood, I am present to tell my story, if ye would hear it," the young treant was trying to be formal, but sounded like a broken calliope.

"Talk straight, creature. I don't have time to suss out your attempt at fluff speak," Minervie was definitely thinking of this creature as useful potion ingredients at this point.

There was a rhythmic clunking coming from the lower half of Minervie's back porch door. Chip didn't notice the new noise, nose deep in a puzzle. Minervie left him to the floor of her "office", and went to check the door.

"What would TROUBLE like YOU be doing at my door?" Minervie was clearly unhappy to see this known prankster at her doorstep, even if they hadn't been involved in Chip's abduction.

Only recently, did the young treant learn that the witch accused him of acting with the spider, and also saw the wake of destruction that witch had left around that spider's final stand. The witch had destroyed the spider completely, only small pieces were left, like seashells strewn on a beach.

This unnamed young treant had learned from their very angry parent that Minervie was probably going to hunt them down and prune them to trunk if he didn't talk to her directly.

There was a young treant, a bit less than a meter high, struggling to pull themselves up the three steps of the witch's back porch. This young treant had been talking to the human child in the witch's care when a giant spider had sprung to attack the child. The young treant had run off, and had been on the other side of the woods.

Everyone from the household seemed to have been pressed into service. Some were carrying smudge pots, while others were using shears to #prune the vines.
"Excuse me," she called. "Who is in charge here?"

Dans le croissant qui reste apparent, les prunes cuites constituent un fond coloré sombre oscillant entre orangé et violacé. Le disque de la tarte est serti du beige clair du fond de tarte, puis du verre transparent du plat en Pyrex.

I prune the flowers an early winter frost has brought--dried, dying--the tendrils the summer sun witnessed wending up a circular trellis, a stony still bird perched proudly on top. The wind wisps the fragile leaves away, once strong and young, now aged and good for naught else but burning and fertilizing new plants in spring. I will string lights along the trellis for deep winter, tiny white sentries to ride out the night of early nightfall until it is time to plant again. #prune @stevencudahy
