How cool is this? It's got a constellation on the cover that glows in the dark (cool) and just LOOK at that record!

Gorgeous!

And let me tell you: I can't think of another band that deserves such pretty records - that has such a cultivated image to go with their sound. I mean, who else can you think of? Genuine question.

Who is an act that warrants pretty records like this?

Nope. I genuinely can't think of another act that has cultivated an image so perfectly to match their sound - that is a complete package of sounds and visuals together. Especially when it comes to something like a tiger stripe motif in the vinyl.

I will say that I don't really think this is the best album that Tiger Army has come out with, but I could see the potential here. I think that Tiger Army should repress their albums in tiger stripes to match the aesthetics of the albums because Nick 13 OBVIOUSLY put a lot of thought into the whole album as a package both in sound and looks. Vinyl is a way to build on that.

Anyway. Tiger Army. A friend of mine asked if there was any act that I would want everything from. Nothing crazy like all variants because I would like to TRY to send my kids to college, but certainly one of each release.

"Alkaline Trio," I instantly replied. "And Tiger Army. Maybe Tool."

Since this conversation I have added The Kilograms because I really like their progressive stands and overall sound.

But my point is that Tiger Army was always on the short list and I'm glad to have this gorgeous example. Can't wait to get more!

released the Album "And now What" two weeks ago.

Besides tracks in their well-known powerful style, there are some classical numbers with serious hit potential.

Artist: The Cramps

Where to start?

My first encounter with the Cramps was the music video for "Garbageman." While this is a cover, it was an invitation into music that coins the idea of "punkabilly" and if Lux's extreme vocals and Ivy's groundbreaking guitar don't put a spell on you, I don't know what will.

"Ultratwist" will give you a taste of how they developed their style and sound with one of their later ablums. It also features all the wonderful campy horror vibes in the music video that define their aesthetic.

Artist: The Cramps (Lux Interior, he/him; Poison Ivy, she/her)

Why?

For Halloween, I decided to do something a bit different. The artists today never identified as trans as far as I know, but were so campy in queering gender and aggressively gender non-conforming that they embody the wider meaning of transgressing the gender binary.

Today, I am going to give you a crash course in THE CRAMPS!

The lead singer, Lux Interior (he/him), and lead guitar, Poison Ivy (she/her), fell in love over their shared passion as record collectors of classic blues and rock-n-roll, as well as a love for B-movie horror films. This led them to get married and form a band that basically created the genre of "psychobilly," also cementing other subgenres like "punkabilly." I think it's also fair to credit them with inspiring the aesthetics of later goth and emo scenes, as well.
