I realise it's been a while since I've posted on here. Not too surprising to me; I wasn't active on Twitter either.
Still, a quick update: I still haven't gotten back to normal #YouTube. It was annoying to get used to literally having nothing to do on my phone, and I still catch myself unlocking it and staring at the homescreen for some time, just looking for anything to distract me for even a moment. But there's nothing there.
I've started listening to podcasts more, so those or music now fill more of my time, but it still feels better than anything I've had with YouTube, even #ReVanced (Great app, literally the best for letting me disable the cancer that is yt shorts). Man, am I glad I didn't go back.
Life goes on. New challenges arise, new things happen. I've got a (new) second phone now, mostly used for work (and the one app that donesn't work on #LineageOS). It literally is just an appliance. I don't look at it, and it feels so incredibly refreshing. And I'm still obsessed with tech, yeah, but not the one that sucks out your soul for profit. Just the good parts.
Is everything perfect? Nah.
But everything's pretty damn okay.

Now that I am on a #degoogled phone. #youtube is something that I use a lot for my entertainment, both mobile and desktop. #newpipe is a good app and is *a* solution, but the trouble is that it doesn't synchronise my watched history back when I go to my desktop. So I end up accumulating recommended videos that I've already watched on mobile. #revanced is my solution as I like the extra tweaks that it has. If anybody has a #foss app suggestion that still retains synchronisation I am all ears.

En gros le premier permet de récupérer l'.apk d'une application installée et le second permet de patcher l'application.
Par exemple patcher #spotify pour enlever la pub... (exemple totalement au hasard)
Contrairement a xManager il permet de patcher plus d'applications.

#YouTube is being difficult today? I like to watch videos on TV during lunch, and #SmartTube simply wasn't working, despite restarting the app several times, and the Onn once. Still isn't, hours later.
On my tablet, #Revanced is working, as is #NewPipe and #NewPipeX. Also #PipePipe, though that last was having a problem until an update came in. And #FreeTube is working on my computer.
But I was just getting used to using SmartTube on the Onn I picked up on Black Friday. It does basic watching better than Revanced Extended, and does a few things better, like letting me define the channels button to change playback speed on the fly. Also a few things worse: I want to prune the speed list, and I can't browse while playing the video reduced to a corner.
@juliank somebody asked for a #ReVanced patch that solves this but the issue was closed with an unrelated(?) reference to another issue:

Does anyone know how to use ReVanced patches on recent versions of Tumblr mobile app?
Since 35.3 (June 2024), APKMirror no longer provides the unified APK, only the split bundle version, which ReVanced explicitly doesn't support (yet).
I mean, using 35.3 works, but I'm worried of how things will go later if this version no longer works...
