With the #riptide done it’s time to finish those #pathfinders. I mean, I started on them around last Christmas. But I’m also thinking about what’s next for my #tau army. It needs proper leadership, so I’ll need Shadowsun. But I’ve also been eyeing the (pretty good) stats of the Breacher team. I’d need a Devilfish then, for rapid deployment. Battle report! 1000p battle #ultramarines vs. #tau with the 12yo. The table looked like this before round 1. I have a strike team and a #riptide in reserves. You don’t see them well in the picture, but Darkstrider and his pathfinders are in the top floor of the basilicanum ruins. 12yo has the land raider full of intercessors and eradicators, and a jump pack squad led by a captain in reserves. 12yo was luckiest with his dice, and got to start. I’m actually quite happy with how this turned out, all in all. Sure, some things could be improved, but overall I think it looks good, I had fun, and I got to test some new techniques, specifically dip my toe in OSL for the first time. Also, I still have transfers, the base and drones to go. First try, and this did not turn out the way I imagined. Glad I only tried it out on parts of the shield. I’ll basepaint over and try again. And this time I’ve actually read a little about glazing, so I’ll use lahmian medium instead of water to thin the paint down. Any other tips or suggestions are welcome! I can’t really tell if I’m happy or unhappy with this so far. I think it hinges very on the next steps where I’ll try to make a glow effect from the blue-white light emanating from inside the shield. I have this idea in my head about how I want it to look, or the effect I want to create, but I might not have the painting skills to pull it off in a convincing way.
