Post-work visit to my fave #vinyl emporium, Thorne Records (right across from our bookshop), who started the day with a massive queue, & were still partying come evening for #RecordStoreDay2025 .
Music, chat, beer: good end to a busy day! Picked up a RSD special, a triple vinyl of Joni Mitchell live. Now poorer but happy.

Second stop was the False Widow pub in Leith for the Lost Map label and Good Vibes record store presentation. The sun streamed in and the low alcohol beer was tasty. Dominie Hooper was amazing and I will definitely be looking out for her indie folk sounds. R.AGGS was a fun vibe and moved the crowd (as much as they could move, it was a small pub!) (2)
Fun was had at Record Store Day in Edinburgh. First stop St.Vincent Chapel in St.Vincent street where, yes, I did buy a St.Vincent CD (among others)! Wonderful music from Withered Hand, Bell Lungs and Haiver and some CDs bought. Very pleased also to get a new hat from Tiny Changes, the charity set up in Scott Hutchison's memory to support young people's mental health. Jambo maroon, which he would have liked I think. (1)
Here’s my 4 purchases from #rsd25 today, queue was barmy. I declined the 7 inch offerings including the De La Soul twin pack. Missed a couple that I’ll try and find online on Monday. Need to set that alarm clock earlier next year!

I really didn’t need another David Bowie live album, I’ve passed on a lot of the recent ones, but this is a live performance of the Reality album which I like a lot. Talking Heads 1978, I guess I’m just signed up to buying whatever they put out each year! Usually I buy one thing outside my knowledge base, so this parallel universe version of the first PiL record seems like a good idea.
Happy Record Store Day to all who celebrate. Nothing for me this year but I’ll be doing my usual visit of a record shop at some point this week. They’re such special places.
