Exiting the cinema late after a post-work movie, catching Anderson's One Battle After Another, which was rather longer than I'd realised, but pretty damned excellent (didn't realise how long until I switched the phone back on at the end, quite engrossed, a good sign)

#Edinburgh peeps, we have copies of that fine chap Bob Mortimer's new novel, The Long Shoe, signed by his own fair hand. Out now from Gallery Books.

Walking through the avenue of branches at the fascinating - if somewhat pricey - Andy Goldsworthy exhibition at the RSA.

I liked this installation, to me it suggested some religious, ritual path from our ancient pagan history, when spirituality was more tied to Earth cycles.

Or a setting for a British folk-horror! The two are not incompatible 😀

Came across a rather lovely & romantic scene today: this couple were taking some wedding snaps by the Scott Monument

Saint Andrew Square this evening. This modern intrusion into the Georgian era New Town is prime "blanditechture", but it is marginally less offensive than the now-demolished Brutalist piece it replaced.

Of course it would be better if laxer planning regulations of earlier decades had never allowed either in a historical area.

Post-exhibition, then brief photo walk through the Gardens, pint of Jarl & a read in the Abbotsford. Probably* more photos on the way home

*: almost certainly...

Off to the Andy Goldsworthy exhibition at the RSA. Damned expensive, but heard good things, so decided to treat myself

For some reason the classic song "Stormy Weather" has been in my head this weekend...

A rather rain-lashed marker to William Fielding, on the pavement of Stafford Street in the West End, outside the townhouse, where he ran a Turkish Baths in Victorian #Edinburgh , in the era of large, manly moustaches. Easy to walk over without noticing.

Soggy Princes Street today. The way the winds are now increasing as the storm spreads this way, a brolly is probably not advisable, unless you want to fly like Mary Poppins...

Some of the whisky selection in Teuchters. They offer the "hoop of destiny" game, purchase three goes to get a hoop over a bottle neck, hoopla style, to win a dram.

And please note this is Scotland, home of the single malt, so there's no damned "e" in "whisky! 🥃
