I wonder if there is any demand for a "#RYF" "#GNU" "#cloud", e.g. whole dedicated Coreboot etc machines or VMs running on RYF hardware... I'm in the state capital so I see entire pallets of old Optiplexes go up for auction, even if its a pallet of something that needs a Coreboot port it seems like that would be a way to pay for it?

Not a huge fan of the #FSF. While I can at least understand the ideological reasons behind the "Respect Your Freedom" certification (#RYF) rules, even if I don't agree with them, the "Defective by Design" campaign seems to be increasingly run by people who either don't understand technology or are okay with bending the truth as long as it enrages people.
TBH I only half get why Free Software activists fight against DRM in a proprietary OS they're not even using so much.

Sadly, some high profiled individuals, and even some organizations (@conservancy) argue that you should not be able to do with software what others can .. on your own hardware.

Je lis un bon billet de blog sur l'usage d'Ubuntu pour une thèse de littérature, et il y a ce passage qui me fait un peu tiquer :
Un ami libriste m’a dit une fois : “Ubuntu c’est comme le bio à Carrefour, c’est un premier pas vers le bio (ici le libre), mais on peut quand même avoir accès à des produits classiques (ici les logiciels propriétaires)”. Ubuntu ce n’est donc pas l’idéal du libre du fait de sa compatibilité avec des logiciels propriétaires et sa distribution commerciale.On y trouve une sémantique (sans doute involontaire) de la pureté militante, je rappelle donc que les distributions #RYF (comme Trisquel, Parabola, Guix…) ne visent qu'à nous empêcher d'installer des logiciels propriétaires sans nous en rendre compte. On peut tout à fait choisir d'installer Discord via Flatpak.
