My first dive into GNU/Linux was with Mint in February 2025 which I installed on an old 2012 Mac Mini. It was a great first experience but I wanted to try an "entirely free" distribution. One of the recommendations is #trisquel and I gave that a go with the KDE desktop. Installed yesterday, loving it so far. No wifi as the card driver/firmware is nonfree, often an issue with "free" distros. I use ethernet so not a problem in my use case.
Tired of being used by Microsoft, Google and Apple? Refuse to be their tool.
I should have joined @fsf years ago, but better late than never.

We are Selling Freedom Wrong! And I don't think this problem only applies to Libre Software or the Fediverse. It think this problem is applicable broader. I think the sense of "the end of the world" that a lot of people are feeling right now, comes exactly from this problem. From the bad enshitified software we are forced to use, to the various wars around the globe, to the unsettling uprising of complete political instability. I'm enjoying learning about the foundational ethics of the Free Software Movement. And I appreciate and understand the refusal to compromise on anything less than truly free software. Computers and software have become central to how we organize and administer human affairs in the modern world. We should not be so casual in the ethics of the technology we adopt and use daily.
