…Flatpak would provide mature tool to add directory access permissions, for example. The way you do that on #SFOS (or even disable file sandboxing) is by editing the .desktop file. IMHO, that is ridiculous. I feel some NIH syndrome vibes here.

I really like the simple #Nextcloud integration for contacts and calendar.

Feel free to ask for help, there are some unexpected issues, but in most cases you can deal with it.

For example when you use Android Apps like #OrganicMaps or #OSMAnd (from #Fdroid), they will not find your GPS-location until you start a native SFOS-App, that accesses GPS, too. 🤔 After that give it a minute and it will work. 😉

As it is Thursday, I went to check the community news that @jolla publishes. What a suprise I had when I saw an update about next gen Jolla phone https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/next-gen-jolla-phone-update-11-25/25503/7

As the volumes will be in 1000s or hopefully 10000s, I assumed Jolla has to pick some existing android phone where they would implement #SailfishOS. But no!! They make it sound like they are actually designing the phone from the ground up?!! I am so excited to see what will be outcome! #nextgenjollaphone #Jolla #SFOS

@frankps Just yesterday I had my biyearly look at the SFOS community forum and wondered if there will ever be some movement in terms of devices. I own a Xperia 1 IV and since its Android isn't updated anymore, I have to search for a longer term solution to this problem.

The perspective of getting an official LineageOS release first and a SailfishOS release later is very promising. Just sad as usual that Jolla won't help here.

Wow, the Sailfish Community got some great news last night.

There is now a very much working port of SailfishOS for Sony Nagara (Xperia 1IV and 5IV)! - https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/sony-nagara-xperia-1iv-and-5iv-port/25136

This is also great news for other community ports that most likely will getting updated images with new functionality.

Oh, das ist aber schade.
Einerseits kann ich die Begründung verstehen, andererseits macht es mir das Leben mit Betriebssystemen jenseits des Duopols deutlich schwerer. 😥 Klar gibt es noch den Web Client, aber das ist ja schon was Anderes.

Im Forum wird berichtet, dass das neue Release 4.6 unmittelbar vor der Veröffentlichung steht.

#Jolla hat sich wohl neu aufgestellt, sodass von einer Weiterentwicklung auszugehen ist.

#SFOS ist als daily driver gut geeignet. Klappt bei mir mit einem Sony Xperia 10 III gut
