A flower from a melaleuca nesophila (showy honey myrtle). In this species the petals are reduced to tiny, transparent scales at the base of each stamen, and the flower resembles a bright purple pom pom.

This plant however is flowering prolifically in #Bendigo #victoria #Australia.
I love the striking purples and tiny follicles with the white dots on each tip.
