Today 19th June 2025 we had the unveiling the Gresley Plaque and Interpretation Board at Doncaster Railway station. A very successful day. Today would have been Sir Nigel Gresley's 149th birthday. Thanks to all those involved especially the Gresley Committee, Bill Mchugh MBE Ann-Marie Loversall Doncaster Council, Philip Benham MBE and Chris Clark Ed Turn , Steve Kimber Doncaster David Ingleby and last not but least myself Marion Baxter & Keith Crouter. #sirnigelgresley

1. Since last year along with myself and the Gresley Plaque Committee have been organising a Blue Plaque along with the Interpretation Board for Sir Nigel Gresley. I am pleased to announce the plaque is ready and the board will be done shortly. This all began over a year ago with one of my followers on the D&DFHS Facebook page wanted to find out the mystery of Shillington, Avenue Road, off Thorne Road, Doncaster where Sir Nigel gresley and his family once lived. #sirnigelgresley

Update on Sir Nigel Gresley. I received an email from Doncaster Civic Trust and I am very sad to say that they have looked in detail at the request for Heritage Plaques for Nigel Gresley however one of their criteria for Historic Building Plaques states that "the buildings should be in Doncaster City Centre within walking distance of existing plaques". So our request has been denied. #history #sirnigelgresley

Just to update you on the 1919 Deeds for Sir Nigel Gresley, I can let you know I have received a copy this afternoon of the 1919 Deeds. I have sent a copy of the Deeds to Doncaster Civic Trust and also Doncaster Archives.
