Hah, forget us. Looks like TNS had a good roll up past the reservoir in the #Bronx, including a stop outside Yankee Stadium. (No, not in this photo. You silly.)

That was just an amazing weekend. The weather was almost perfect for #InlineSkating in #NYC, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Meanwhile our fitness tracker was showing 8 or 10 NYC skaters rolling unending miles at the LA Big Avocado Roll. NYC skaters do not quit! (But, seriously, is Lisa B even human?)
Cyclists have also mentioned to us how much they enjoyed the weekend weather. But dang, the days ARE getting shorter.
Keep on rolling, peeps. Keep on rolling.
Oh, wow. Looks like anyone planning to skate (or ride) to Jersey via the GWB this Saturday is out of luck?
Well, now I can say I went to New Jersey at least once this year.
Sitting here having a drink at the bar at 2:30 a.m. after my late Monday evening skate, and there's another dude here who's putting on his skates so he can roll home.
Oooh, he's got Luminous wheels.
Polished off September on Monday night by posting up my second best month distance-wise of #InlineSkating this year. Could have been best month if I'd stayed out until 2 a.m., or else left the office an hour earlier. The former, no, not tonight —the latter, sorry, needed to release a couple software updates before exiting.
Fairly standard roll to the Battery, but the legs were feeling good enough to work on a double push on some of the better streets.
Temporarily going off the meds seems to be having the desired effect. I rolled more miles (39) on Sunday than I had any other day this year, and more miles (66) over the weekend than any other weekend this year. Sunday's #inlineSkating session was a double, visiting both Valentino Pier in #RedHook and Barge Park in #Greenpoint #brooklyn
Red Hook was accentuated by watching the Queen Mary 2 sail close by as it headed out to sea for a cruise to Québec.
The rain in the weather forecast seems to have just… gone away, but OMG, it was 81% humidity when we went #InlineSkating #NYC late Saturday evening.
We hope you're all having a great three-day weekend and getting in some extra time on your wheels.
Weekend weather is looking sketchy. Saturday could be okay, but best for #NYC skaters to get their rolls in early and make no skate plans for the evening. After that, pray to the bearing gods! (ABEC lord, we praise thee, etc.) Sunday looks like a possible wash.
Speaking of First Ave, we never did mention that a month or two back, #NYC DOT resurfaced and restriped the bike lane in East Harlem, from somewhere in the 10Xs up to 124th. It's wide because it's two-way, and there can a problem with trash in the lane closest to the curb, but still, it's not bad.
The weird part is that DOT resurfaced the bike lane and the adjacent parking lane, but not the full width of the avenue.
In what will be good news for some of the more adventurous #NYC skaters, we are happy to report that the recent NYC DOT street resurfacing of First Ave in the 40s included the UN tunnel. We thought they were just going to do the approach and exit and the surface road above, but no they did the tunnel, too. And did a sweet job of it.
Now if they'd just fix the mess that is First Ave from 35th to 38th. Sigh.
Looking at pictures that someone posted from the #BigAppleRoll skate to Queens earlier today, and I see that the skaters were able to take the South Outer Roadway when crossing the Queensboro Bridge. I am so F-ing jealous.
You love to see it.
We thought a week ago that the new lane striping on Seventh Ave from Times Sq down to 34th looked suggestive, but it wasn't finished yet and we wanted to see more evidence.
We rolled that way Sunday evening and discovered, there is indeed fresh kermit marking a new bike lane on Seventh.
Rolling 49 miles in 24 hours btw Friday and Saturday nights first got me past my month's #InlineSkating goal, and then up to posting (barely) my best month of 2024.
Sigh.
I skated twice this distance in one month two or three times just a few years ago.
Anybody who needs to know probably already discovered it, but just in case… if your access point for #InlineSkating the WSBP / Hudson greenway has been via the underpass at W 59th, maybe it's time to explore new options. It wasn't great anyway, but one of the utilities recently did some work at the intersection of W59 and Riverside Blvd. So now the intersection is even rougher plus there's gravel all over.
Skate peeps, we had a fun non-TNS skate late Tuesday night. (We started 2 hours after TNS did.) Weird route to the Unisphere because someone else was choosing the route, but on the way back, OMG... 30th Av across #Astoria #Queens #NYC from 49th St west to the subway at 31st St. Recently repaved and just an absolute dream to roll.
Nine days 'til BIg Apple Roll 2024 begins. Again, keep your fingers crossed about the weather.
We should mention that in addition to all the #GroupSkate activity and a couple parties, there will be raffles and shwag and more. So there's more to it then just showing up on wheels.
The countdown begins. We are 10 days until official start of Big Apple Roll 2024. Cross your fingers and hope that the weather forecast improves.
